Jed first appeared in Coronation Street in 1961. He then became a lodger of Street resident Minnie Cauldwell. In 1966, Jed was sent to prison for handling stolen blankets. He is set to return to the show in August 2008 after a 42-year absence to cause trouble for scheming businessman Tony Gordon.
