Yesterday was the start of the massive Los Angeles press junket for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”. While an embargo prevents me from writing my thoughts on the film (or I’d tell you), I’m allowed to start positing all the interviews I participated in, so if you’re a fan of Rob Pattinson, after the jump you can either read or listen to his entire press conference from yesterday afternoon.
The big news is what I reported yesterday. At the end of the press conference, I asked Rob “what movies have you committed to in 2010 and have you been told a tentative start date on ‘Breaking Dawn’?” He told me “I think the tentative time for ‘Breaking Dawn’ is fall of next year.” Also, he talked about his next movie “Bel Ami” and a western he might do with Rachel Weiss and Hugh Jackman called “Unbound Captives”. Jurnee openly admits that she was a flirt at the age of three! She was doing a pepsi advert with Joe Montana, and she was playing with his collar, she told t5m. And her perchant for the older man didn't end there, as Jurnee also had many celebrity crushes from a young age like, Paul Newman, Wesley Snipes, Will Smith, Sidney Poitier, and Denzel Washington who she first saw in 'Glory' and 'Malcom X'. Jurnee has never told Denzel that she has a crush on him, now she admires him in a fraternal way. She recalls a hilarious story when she went to the movie theatre to watch 'Waiting to Exhale' starring Wesley Snipes. Everytime he came on screen, she would clap! »

One of the nicest things about the McM Expo is how willing people are to talk to convention-goers. Outside of the panels and signings are comic creators and film makers who will quite happily have a conversation with anyone who approaches them.
HeyUGuys managed to snag some time with Jeymes Samuel, who has produced albums for The Gorillaz, Ben Hudson and KT Tunstall. His current project is Buskers, a film version of the comic that he wrote with graphic-novelist Sean Michael Wilson.
The film, which begins shooting in December stars Kevin Spacey, Damon Albarn, Ian Brown and Mos Def. It tells the story of Timothy Book, a former banker who falls on hard times, and ends up spending an increasing amount of time involved with London’s busking scene.
The film is being produced by Pilar Savone, associate producer on Inglorious Basterds, and will feature a soundtrack by London-based musical collective The BulliTTs. »

Moviemaker Abel Ferrara has quit Wesley Snipes' new action film to concentrate on Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent's new movie Jekyll & Hyde.
Ferrara was due to direct Snipes and Death Proof star Zoe Bell in Game of Death, but, according to MovieHole.net, he has been replaced by Giorgio Serafini.
In the film, Snipes and Bell team up to defend an injured diplomat who is hospitalised after an assassination attempt.
It's currently shooting in Detroit, Michigan. »

So the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez was last night's World Series hero, knocking a ninth-inning double for the go-ahead run and a 3-1 series lead against the Phillies. In tonight's Game 5, A. J. Burnett looks to mirror his one-run gem from last week as he takes the mound at Citizens Bank Park. With the Yanks possibly locking up the Fall Classic in a matter of hours, either of these guys could end up nabbing the series' Mvp award. Or the Phils could stage a comeback powered by Game 1 gods, Chase Utley and Cliff Lee.
Whatever happens, though, I know one thing: I detest both these teams because I am a heart-broken Mets fan (is there any other kind?). That's why when I think about ballplayers these days, I tend to think about movies. Cinema has given us some of the best and silliest sluggers and hurlers imaginable, and it is these »

King of New York fans will be disappointed to find out that Abel Ferrara has backed out of directing the action flick Game of Death. The film was supposed to mark the reunion of Ferrara with his King of New York cast member, Wesley Snipes, but for unknown reasons Ferrara has stepped aside. Game of Death focuses on a diplomat.s bodyguard (Snipes) injured during an assassination attempt. After the incident, everyone is taken to the hospital where this bodyguard meets a nurse played by Zoe Bell. Together they try to protect the diplomat from a gang of assassins led by Gary Daniels as a guy named Zander. Movie Hole says Giorgio Serafini will take Ferrara.s place. Scratch that, actually Mh says Georgio Serafini will direct, but I assume they are referring to Italian director Giorgio Serafini. If so, little is known of his work Stateside since his resume »

Happy Halloween everyone! If you’re a regular Screen Rant reader you’ll have noticed (and hopefully read) our Halloween lead-up series called “Horror Plus.” If not, just so you know it’s a feature which sets out to showcase one film that combines horror with another genre. Each instalment will basically serve as a review of the film at hand, explaining why it’s such a good example of genre merging.
So far we’ve had Horror Plus Comedy: Shaun of the Dead, Horror Plus Sci-fi: Alien, Horror Plus Thriller: 28 Days Later and Horror Plus Crime: Se7en. And finally we come to our final installment which is Horror Plus Action.
So which film have we chosen which merges both the genres of horror and action so well? After much deliberation I decided to go with Stephen Norrington’s excellent 1998 comic-book adaptation, Blade, starring Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire killer. »

Oh Snap! Joanna's Ultra Halloween Bloodmoon Vampire Extravaganza Party is tomorrow night and you still haven't gotten your righteous costume together! Now you're so stressed out about it that the only costumes you can think of are "ghost" and "Patrick Swayze from 'Ghost,'" but one of those is too easy to mess up and you don't own a maroon button down to make the other one work! After taking a look at the trailer for “Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball”, you can’t help but agree with Universal: yeah, this is definitely not theatrical worthy stuff here. If anything, it looks like your run-of-the-mill direct-to-dvd action movie, the kind that usually stars Wesley Snipes and shot around the bombed out looking streets of some unnamed Eastern European country. Here’s the first trailer for the Joe Carnahan-produced (but not directed or really written by, disappointingly enough) prequel to his moderate hit “Smokin’ Aces”. It’s called “Assassins’ Ball”, and it’s about bad guys, more bad guys, and even more bad guys trying to kill some guy played by Tom Berenger. Basically, watch it for the exploding bodies and never mind that whole empathy thing. For more info on the movie, including DVD specs and artwork, head over here. »

Either it’s a sign of the end times or a sign of Twilight’s undying popularity (pun intended) but Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen has been named moviedom’s favorite vampire.
In a survey conducted by ad agency Pearl & Dean, Twilight’s Cullen received 38% of the vote from more than 3,000 movie-going fans. Behind Cullen is Christopher Lee’s classic Dracula and Wesley Snipes’ Blade. Fruity fanged one Lestat, played by Tom Cruise in Interview With the Vampire, was No.4.
Kate Beckinsale’s Selene from the first two Underworld films napped top prize for a female with Salma Hayek’s snake-charming and hip-shaking Santanico Pandermonium (From Dusk Till Dawn) taking second amongst women.
“People love to be scared witless, particularly at this time of year,” said Pearl & Dean CEO Kathryn Jacob. “Edward Cullen being voted firm favorite movie vampire is testament to the fact that people still enjoy a good bloodsucker. »

Wesley Snipes is not alone. News broke recently that Nicolas Cage is suing his business manager, Samuel J. Levin, for incompetence that caused him huge tax liabilities and "catastrophic financial losses." Contributing to Cage's financial woes, the IRS has filed more than $6.3 million in liens against Cage for back taxes owed from 2002, 2004, and 2007. He is reportedly selling some properties to pay off the debt and going after Levin in retaliation.
But the "National Treasure" star isn't the first celebrity to owe big money to Uncle Sam. A few have even spent time behind bars for failing to pay taxes. Hopefully, Nic will avoid that fate and start building up his nest egg with the earnings from the four films he'll be starring in next year. In the meantime, maybe he can get a few tips from these celebrity tax evaders. »

With Halloween on the horizon and The Twilight Saga: New Moon now less than a month away (we even have a special countdown app on Facebook – download it here), we’re going fang crazy here at Boxwish. And so who better to salute in this week’s fashion fix than one of cinema’s coolest vampires, the Daywalker better known as Blade? The Marvel comic hero played by Wesley Snipes isn’t exactly the granddaddy of all big screen bloodsuckers (that honour surely going to Dracula), but with three blockbusters under his belt, he’s definitely important, like a popular uncle. And so we’re stealing Blade’s style from his second outing with his Oakley Four sunglasses. »

Couple of quick casting notes for you today. First up, Working Title yesterday paid a lot of money for a pitch from Allan Loeb to write an as-yet untitled comedy for Ryan Reynolds. The film is a "dude-in-drag romantic comedy, with Reynolds playing a jilted lover who must disguise himself as a woman and befriend his ex in order to win her back." Had to happen sooner or later, really. All manly actors have to prove their mettle not by blowing away a bunch of other manly actors, but by wearing a dress. But if Wesley Snipes can do it, and Terence Stamp can do it, then why not Ryan Reynolds? Watch this one as a double-feature with Buried to see just how much range Reynolds has got. [Variety] After the break, new casting for Devil, the film M. Night Shyamalan wrote for Quarantine writers John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle »

Following in the high heels of Robin Williams, Martin Lawrence, Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, Guy Pierce, Johnny Depp and Jack Lemmon, Ryan Reynolds is about to show his feminine side. According to Variety, the comedy actor will go from the tight pants of "Deadpool" and "The Green Lantern" to real tights in a new untitled cross-dressing comedy for Working TItle. Described as a "dude in drag" comedy, the story line will find Reynolds as a man who must disguise himself as a woman to win his girlfriend back. Why exactly he needs to do this dressed in female attire is... »
