Decca to release rousing ‘Planet 51′ score

Decca Records, a label who has been less active in the soundtrack business lately, will release the original soundtrack album from Planet 51, the upcoming animated Sony sci-fi comedy, on November 17. Spotlight Your Pilot, Blake Neely!

Although he has done a couple of films already (The Wedding Date, The Great Buck Howard), perhaps your more familiar with Blake Neely's work on television series' like Jack and Bobby, Everwood or Eli Stone. Born and raised in Texas, Blake currently resides in La, doing music from the state-o-the-art Cow on the Wall studio. Blake is also one of the specialists to call on when you need music for a new pilot! We' re going to nose around a bit to find out about these movies and shows as well as learn why his studio is called Cow on the Wall (Hint, look on your right!)

John Corigliano: Edge of Darkness

John Corigliano, one of the most acclaimed composers of contemporary concert music who wrote the groundbreaking score for Altered States in 1980 and won an Oscar for The Red Violin ten years ago, is making a spectacular comeback to the film scoring stage. The Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency confirms that Corigliano is doing the music for Edge of Darkness, the new thriller from director Martin Campbell, starring Mel Gibson as a detective who uncovers a government collusion when investigates the death of his activist daughter. The film is based on the 1985 TV miniseries which featured a score by Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton. Gk Films produces for release on November 11. »
