British actor Orlando Bloom was reportedly seen exposing his upper body during his visit at a top Las Vegas club on Tuesday, December 1. According to New York Post's Page Six, the 32-year-old took off his shirt in front of the guests at the Palazzo's restaurant Lavo after a fellow guest spilled a drink over the shirt.
Recalling the incident, a spy said, "A drink was accidentally spilled on Bloom's shirt and he was visibly p - - - ed." Fortunately, one of his friends came to the rescue by requesting some fresh shirts from a nearby store. "One of his friends called the flagship John Varvatos store and within 30 minutes, someone arrived with three brand-new shirts," the spy informed.
"Much to the delight of every female diner he made his choice at his table, right in the middle of the dining room packed with 200 people," the spy further explained. "He »

It took a millennium for western civilisation to create a canon of classical literature – but just 10 years for Hollywood to destroy it
When I think back on this decade's spate of movies based on the great legends of European history, I remember how fantastically it started – with Gladiator – and how badly things went downhill after that: with Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, 300 and Beowulf. When I saw Gladiator in 2000, I thought this was going to be just the best millennium ever. It had everything you could want in a movie: glory, gore, guts, gladiators. It was a sweeping epic with a computer-generated cast of thousands. Augustus Caesar would have been proud of it. Julius and Tiberius, too.
Yet the thing I liked most about Ridley Scott's superb film was how closely it hewed to the historical record, in its portrayal of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) as the depraved son of Marcus Aurelius, »

The Sundance Film Festival unveiled its list of films competing for its prestigious awards Wednesday, and the names of stars appearing in the drama category seemed as impressive as those in any Oscar contest. Among them were Kristen Stewart, James Gandolfini, Orlando Bloom, Laura Linny, Edie Falco, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Mary-Louise Parker, America Fererra, and Michelle Williams. The World Cinema competition will feature films from 14 countries (including one, Undertow, which is a joint Colombia-France-Germany-Peru production). Among them is a film from Iraq, Son of Babylon, that takes place following the toppling of Saddam Hussein. »

Believe it or not, Orlando Bloom did ditch his shirt in the middle of a public restaurant! This sounds like another crazy rumor from the folks at Page Six, but a rep for the Palazzo's Lavo tells E! News this actually happened. So why in the world was Orly topless at the dinner table, where he was dining with girlfriend Miranda Kerr, Rosario Dawson and others? Someone accidentally spilled a drink on the actor, soaking his shirt. He reportedly was less than pleased. But one fast-thinking friend came to the rescue when he requested fresh shirts from a nearby John Varvatos store. Within a half hour, three new options arrived. Orly chose his replacement at the table and proceeded... »

It's almost that time of year again! The Sundance Film Festival unveiled their 2010 line-up yesterday, which includes 112 feature-length films from 39 different countries. As always, the vast majority of filmmakers are unknowns, and many are first-time directors, so it's kind of hard to tell which ones hold the most promise. However, you can bet that a number of these will be movies that people are raving about by the end of 2010. A few of the highlights include: Sympathy for Delicious: Directed by Mark Ruffalo and starring Orlando Bloom as a paralyzed DJ who seeks out the world of faith healing. Howl: Starring James Franco as the beat poet Allen Ginsberg. Casino Jack & The United States of Money:Alex Gibney-directed doc about D.C. super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Lucky: Documentary about lottery winners by Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound). Welcome to the Rileys: Kristen Stewart plays a young stripper who forms a »

I feel a special bond with the Sundance Film Festival. Not because I’ve been there, but because the guy in charge of it this year, John Cooper, shares my name. Because we share this bond, I feel that I’m able to take license in referring to the man as Coop for the rest of this article.
For the annual event held in Park City, Utah from January 21-31, thousands of films are submitted and screened — this year, 3,724 films were viewed by the festival’s ten programmers. I wonder when they slept.
Coop has high hopes for the festival as a whole:
“We may even be going into a golden age for independent films, in that the technology will make it possible for the films to be made and for audiences to see them. The industry is going through a major evolutionary stage right now, there’s no doubt about that, »

The Pirates of the Caribbean star was dining at Lavo on Tuesday with his model girlfriend Miranda Kerr, but was left fuming when someone bumped into him and drenched his outfit, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
The publication reports the star contacted a nearby store and had a new shirt delivered to him, undressing in front of stunned diners as he changed.
A source tells PageSix, "A drink was accidentally spilled on Bloom's shirt and he was visibly p**sed (upset). Hollywood's "burglar bunch" have all maintained their innocence. The gang, accused of stealing from some of Hollywood's young stars' homes, pleaded not guilty at the Los Angeles Criminal Court on Wednesday.
Diana Tamayo, Roy Lopez Jr., Courtney Ames, and reputed leader Nicholas Prugo are all accused of entering Hollywood celebrities' houses, including Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Orlando Bloom, and taking million of dollars worth of jewelry and accessories.
The four suspects are ordered to go back in court on January 21 for their preliminary hearing.
Another named suspect, Jonathan Ajar, was also in court but he has yet to be formally charged in connection to the burglaries.

The Sundance Film Festival has unveiled the lineup of films playing in competition from January 21 through January 31, 2010. The early fest typically debuts some of the best films the year has to offer, like 2009’s Precious, (500) Days of Summer, and Moon.
I’m bummed I won’t be in Park City, Utah next month because the lineup looks great, and these are just the films playing in competition. Here’s a few that stood out to me:
The Allen Ginsberg trial film Howl starring James Franco, a documentary by Alex Gibney (a truly great filmmaker) on Jack Abramoff, Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut Sympathy for Delicious, a doc about Joan Rivers, the directorial debut of “How I Met Your Mother” star Josh Radnor titled Happythankyoumoreplease (I wrote a glowing script review of it here), Hesher with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman, and Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.

Orlando Bloom is all about celebrating hotel openings these days and he was in Vegas last night to celebrate the new Vdara Resort & Spa at CitiCenter, which has the interesting distinction of not allowing gambling. Miranda Kerr was right by his side, just as she was for last week's bash at Marrakesh's La Moumani. Their Thanksgiving festivities brought out stars like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, and yesterday's event saw Orlando and Miranda partying alongside Rosario Dawson. While he's off traveling the world for appearances, more progress is being made back in La in prosecuting those accused of robbing his home. Photo: Sundance Today the Sundance Institute announced the films that will be in competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in both the U.S. and International dramatic and documentary categories. The festival will run from January 21-31 in Park City, Utah. There are a few changes this year as there will be no opening-night picture and the festival will take select festival films to eight cities during as the fest plays out.
Last year notable films such as this year's major Oscar contenders Precious and An Education debuted at Sundance 2009 as did audience and critical favorite (500) Days of Summer.
As for this year's crop I have highlighted a few titles among the list below in red, but I have primarily done so considering the names attached to the pictures not necessarily based on any advanced buzz I've heard around any of the films. Names to look out for include Ryan Gosling, »

I've been fortunate enough to attend Sundance Film Festival for the past two years, and it's quite an experience. I tend to spend my time there gorging on as many movies as possible. In my two trips and 10 cumulative days spent in Park City, Ut, I've seen roughly 50 screenings. Not even as press really; writing would consume too much time.
Sundance 2010 is going to be different: either I'll be here manning the blog or out in Utah seeing only the occasional movie while participating in MTV's ongoing coverage. And manning the blog, of course. After looking at the competition lineup, just released today, I'm very much hoping that I'll be able to attend. There are some cool-looking movies in contention, and many more yet to be announced that aren't competing. Hit the jump to check out some of the highlights and then head over to the Sundance website for the full list. »

The Sundance Film Festival is where some of the great films of the year will get their first viewings, and if you don’t believe me, here’s just some of the great films this year that made their debut at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival: Precious, World’s Greatest Dad, Big Fan, Bronson, Moon and even (500) Days of Summer, which I didn’t care for but made a big splash.
The festival is where buzz starts happening and now Sundance has released the list of which films will be in competition for 2010. Keep in mind that there are plenty of other films which play out of competition and can be just as great. But some of the big names fighting for the crown are the Allen Ginsberg obscenity trial film Howl starring General Hospital’s James Franco, Hesher starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo’s directing debut Sympathy for Delicious, »
