But she is a better actress, right? Production Weekly is reporting that Michelle Williams (Synecdoche New York, Brokeback Mountain) is "in talks" to star as Marilyn Monroe in Simon Curtis' My Week With Marilyn. According to early reports, Scarlett Johansson was also rumored for the role, but I think that was more speculation based on her looks. This is the first time we've heard this, so I won't take it as confirmed casting, but it seems like it could be legit. This must be a minor indie film, because My Week With Marilyn isn't even listed on IMDb yet, which means it's a very new project. Shooting is scheduled to begin in June. As far as we know, this is based on Colin Clark's book My Week With Marilyn. Clark was hired as the "third assistant director" on Laurence Olivier's The Prince and the Showgirl, who put »

Paramount Pictures released a new international poster for “Iron Man 2” which features Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)
Speaking with Dark Horizons actor Sam Rockwell spilled a little more about his role as Justin Hammer in the upcoming “Iron Man” sequel”.
“I’m a rival to Tony Stark. I’m a weapons dealer” says Rockwell who doesn’t label Hammer as a secondary villain as many first thought – “He’s kind of more of the plucky comic relief, but he’s got a little bit of an edge. He’s a little pissed off… [actually] he’s little more Salieri than he is the plucky comic relief. Mickey Rourke is really the bad guy.”
The actor is also the focus of an online campaign to get his performance in “Moon” awards recognition. Asked about it, he says
“That’s a very flattering thing, yeah” but admits the chances of the film »

"Iron Man 2', the upcoming Paramount sequel, based on Marvel Comics 'Tony Stark' aka 'Iron Man', is directed by Jon Favreau with actor Robert Downey, Jr. reprising the title role.
The film will be released May 7 , 2010.
"Iron Man 2" is set six months after the events of "Iron Man", with the ' S.H.I.E.L.D.' organization continuing to have a major role. The film explores Stark's alcoholism, as he is unable to cope with his advancing age, concealing the fact he is Iron Man, and dealing with his budding love interest 'Pepper' (Gwyneth Paltrow), finding another boyfriend.
Downey revealed that while the film was not an adaptation of the "Demon in a Bottle" storyline from the comic book series, it was more about the 'interim space' between the origin and the demon story arc.
Cast of "Iron Man 2" also includes Don Cheadle as 'Lt. »

Via Empire, here’s another teaser poster for Jon Favreau’s upcoming “Iron Man 2″, featuring a very grumpy looking Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Then again, I guess when you’ve got a psycho Russian with electric whips trying to slice you in half, you’d be grumpy, too. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Kate Mara, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau, Clark Gregg, and directed by Favreau. »

The first "Iron Man 2" poster was crammed with goodness: The suit! War Machine! A mighty Marvel team-up! The second poster, to be used outside the United States, gets rid of all those things.
Paramount's international "Iron Man 2" poster features just series star Robert Downey Jr., in the Iron Man suit sans helmet, glaring at the viewer. No War Machine. No sense that this movie will be different from the first. It's a shame.
See why we say Downey loses something in the new poster:
"Iron Man 2" opens in U.S. theaters May 7, 2010.

We already saw the first official "Iron Man 2" poster arrive online this week with a shot of War Machine, and now another poster from the much-anticipated blockbuster has hit the 'Net. This time around, it's an international teaser poster for "Iron Man 2" that offers a darker take on Robert Downey Jr. and his billionaire industrialist, Tony Stark.
The new poster makes its debut at Empire, and Stark certainly doesn't look happy in the shot. The new image features Downey Jr. in the Iron Man armor sans helmet, with slightly bowed head and eyes staring at the camera. The only light in the shot comes from the armor's uni-beam in the center of his chest (though I think it's called a "repulsor transmitter" in the film).
So now the question becomes, what could Stark be so unhappy about?
From what we know of the film thus far, Stark is »

Just a few days ago an amazing new poster for Iron Man 2 featuring the titular armor-suited hero standing back-to-back with War Machine was released. It marked the first time we got an official look at War Machine (as he’ll appear in the film), who’s real identity is Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, being played by Don Cheadle (after he replaced Terrence Howard).
The poster caused geekgasms everywhere amongst superhero movie fans (I know Screen Rant’s readers were particularly psyched by it, anyway ), and rightfully so. However, John Favreau, Marvel Studios and Paramount haven’t just left it at that: Some brand new images from Iron Man 2 were released not long after the poster was, now another new poster has been released.
The international teaser (as it’s being dubbed) shows just Iron Man on his own, but this time de-masked. It looks a little strange at first glance, »

Tony Stark looks angry. He also, for some inexplicable reason, appears to be drawn. As in, drawn by someone with a graphics tablet and a popular imaging software known as Photoshop. Courtesy of Empire, we have yet another new poster for Iron Man 2, a movie slated for release on May 7, 2010. It brings to order the curious onslaught of marketing materials seen lately online, almost as if Paramount is trying to take away a bit of the thunder of Fox's Avatar. Though one could also cite that it's just that time in the promotional cycle. Around this time in 2007, we were seeing images, posters and eventually a first trailer for Iron Man. In fact, the first film's trailer hit in September of '07, with much of the promotional weight being pushed around the Superbowl at the end of January. It leads me to believe that there's a trailer on the horizon, with »

Only a matter of days ago, the world got its first glimpse of War Machine in the first Iron Man 2 teaser poster. The promo drive seems to be cranking up a notch as today we get another cool poster, this time featuring a lone Stark in a battle-damaged iron suit. Expectations are riding high on Jon Favreau's sequel, which will see Robert Downey Jr.'s metal-suited hero taking on foes from all directions: Mickey Rourke's Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, and Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer. That's one hell of an...

As predicted, the marketing machine now seems to be waking up from it’s long slumber. First we had the Us teaser poster, then the new film stills and now we have an international teaser poster for Iron Man 2, starring Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell and Gwyneth Paltrow.
To the best of my knowledge, director Jon Favreau has opted not to feature Tony Stark’s fabled battle with alcoholism in the sequel, due out next year, but that’s not to say that Stark won’t have his hands full! As you can see from the new poster below (courtesy of Empire), Stark is looking pretty pissed off to say the least. But then wouldn’t you be kind of miffed if you had some guy (Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell) trying to get his hands on your company, »

A couple of days ago the domestic poster was released for Iron Man 2. Well, Empire have literally just shown us the new International Teaser which you can see here (click it to enlarge).
This new version gives us our first look of Downey Jr. in the new Iron Man suit and it’s looking pretty neat but Tony Stark is looking pretty peed off! Can’t wait to see this movie!
Iron Man 2 will be released on May 7th so we still have some time to wait. After seeing this, I’m sure it’ll be well worth it. As you know, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gweneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, and Jon Favreau. »

Once upon a time, not very long ago, Gwyneth Paltrow was (rightfully) the "hot chick" in a movie. She wasn't playing fiddle to anyone and had a pretty impressive run. But with Iron Man 2 Paltrow will have to share time with Scarlett Johansson. And now she's signed on to star in Love Don't Let Me Down where's playing a washed-up old country singer opposite Leighton Meester who'll play a beauty queen. Call me crazy (or a cougar lover) but I'll take a washed-up Gwyneth any day of... »

Paramount has released four new high-resolution images from Iron Man 2 featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Mickey Rourke as Whiplash. There has been a flurry of news lately for the Marvel movie after the studio unveiled the first poster with the first look at War Machine, and director Jon Favreau hinted at a teaser trailer in front of Christmas Day’s Sherlock Holmes.
Here are the four images. If the ScarJo picture looks familiar, that’s because its essentially the same one we’ve seen before, but at least we get a glimpse of Whiplash’s shrine to Stark. Not exactly action-packed images, but the movie is still six months away. What do you think?

Most fans of established actors believe that one day their favorite will be nominated for an Oscar. In 2009 campaigns hopes are particularly high for Sandra Bullock, Alfred Molina, Colin Firth and Christopher Plummer. Fans of James McAvoy and Sam Rockwell still hold out longshot hope. But guess what? The odds are, generally speaking, against them on February 2nd (two months hence!) when the lucky 20 are called.
Most actors aren't ever nominated for the big prize. People seemed surprise to read in an old Oscar Mythbusting column I wrote years ago that the majority of nominated actors (approximately 67%) never receive a second nomination. But I did the research and it's true. Even less likely than a second nomination: a first one. Consider this...
The following (living) legends have still never been nominated despite rich bodies of work and several classic films or exuberantly praised performances: Mia Farrow, Isabelle Huppert, Christopher Plummer and Donald Sutherland. »

Just yesterday we posted the new one-sheet for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2, scheduled for release on May 7, 2010. We’re apparently in the middle of a media frenzy, as Favreau and co. have broadly hinted that we’ll see a trailer attached to Sherlock Holmes this month and they’ve also been generous enough to show off some new photos.
These give a glimpse at Tony Starks’ new tech, as well as the villainous Black Widow (Johansson) and Whiplash (Rourke) in a very early appearance in the film. I cannot wait to see what Rourke has in store for us — it’s his first big role since his comeback with The Wrestler.
Check out the photos below, and at the rate this stuff is getting fed to us, keep your eyes peeled for more photos and a trailer this month.
Thanks to /Film for the heads up.
