This isn’t too much of an update, but it definitely follows that path of Ed Norton that we’ve become accustomed to in reference to his future with Marvel Studios as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Capone at Ain’t It Cool News had a chance to interview the talented and hands-on actor/producer for his work on the documentary, By the People: The Election of Barack Obama, where he was specifically asked to talk only about that project. However, Capone was able to get in a few questions for the fans and that meant a question or two about The Incredible Hulk 2 and The Avengers.
Like I said above, we seemingly get an update from Ed Norton every few weeks about his involvement with Marvel’s future films, alternating between positive and hopeful, to negative and unlikely. This week’s update fall under the latter.

Nine character posters have leaked online for Clash of the Titans, the modern, mythological remake from director Louis Leterrier. They feature Sam Worthington as Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus, Gemma Arterton as Io, and Ralph Fiennes as Hades. Plus a glimpse of Medusa and the Kraken to go with the earlier remake pictures.
8 of them come from AICN and the last from HitFix. They’re not the best quality because they’re grainy, tilted pictures of the posters and not the official images direct from the studio. I tried to clean them up the best I could, but if you want the full-sized version be sure to click over to those sites. Hopefully Warner Bros will release high-resolution shots soon because these posters look great.
Clash of the Titans will be in theaters March 26, 2010.

Whoa! These came out of nowhere today. Seems like Warner Brothers is preparing to unleash the first of their marketing for Clash of the Titans by the end of the year. Ain't It Cool News just got their hands on eight new character posters and teaser posters for Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans remake (there's also another one on HitFix). We've heard a lot about this remake, even seen a few photos, but we haven't seen anything like these posters and I've got to say, being a huge fan of original, that they really kick ass. I'm very excited for this, I love the style and intensity, I love everything about it. Definitely check these out below! All posters have been removed at the request of Warner Brothers. Sorry guys, you can see them all again when they're officially released! My personal favorite is the one on the top row, »

Over at Ain't It Cool, Harry just put up eight poster designs for "Clash Of The Titans," and all eight of them are fairly awesome. We've got one of our own, rounding out the set of nine, and if we've only got one, at least the one we've got is badass. I know several sites went to the set of "Clash Of The Titans," and I wish I'd been able to work it out to go... I'm really curious to see what Louis Leterrier is up to, and what I've heard from people close to the film is very promising. It... »

Over the last several months, we’ve heard many industry folk chime in the Marvel Studio’s plan of bringing together their superstar superheroes into one shared project, the most ambitious project in comic book movie history: The Avengers.
From Matthew Vaughn (the original director attached to Thor) admitting his desire to helm The Avengers, Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier’s idea of a four-part series of Avengers films to writer Zak Penn’s fear that the epic team-up project is so complicated that it may “suck.” There’s been plenty of talk from the folks behind the cameras about Marvel’s on-screen future, but what about the characters?
One question for the filmmakers has been to figure out how Jon Favreau’s tech-based Iron Man can work together with the mystical Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor? It’s easy in the comic books, but how will they adapt it »

Is there anybody that doesn’t know or respect Stan “The Man” Lee, the official godfather of comics? The octogenarian artist is responsible to bringing many of the comic superheroes that readers have come to love and that movie audiences are now becoming familiar with as well. One of the fun points in the each of the Marvel films is a “Where’s Waldo?” style game that is played with Stan Lee standing in for Waldo.
Starting way back in 2000 with X-Men, he’s appeared in majority of the Marvel Comics-based movies. The one he was most notably missing from is this summer’s blockbuster (financially) X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Steve at Collider had a great interview with him at Scream Fest, where Stan explains that he likes doing the cameos but that they weren’t his idea and doesn’t do them if he has to travel far. Since Wolverine was filmed in Australia, »

There are probably more than 100 historical movies in various stages of production, and we're only talking about movies to be released this year and the next. The exact figure is probably much higher. Anyway, why do we love watching period movies? Aside from seeing famous figures come to life, we also learn important lessons from the past. Of course, some historical dramas attempt to portray events and people as accurately as possible, while others are very much fictionalized. - - -

Jon Favreau recently let it be known that he will not be directing The Avengers, Marvel’s super-powered mashup of Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, which is being planned as The summer movie event of 2012. That news dashed the hopes of some, but has thrown the door of possibility wide open for others who are wondering:
Who Should Direct The Avengers?
It’s been pointed out by Favreau, current Avengers writer Zak Penn and even a few directors who have already tried to toss their hats in the ring to direct The Avengers: Making this movie is going to be like riding a unicycle across a tightrope while juggling plates on chopsticks. We’re talking about a film that has to give equal weight to three characters - Cap, Thor and Iron Man (and maybe more) - who are all (best case scenario) going to be blockbuster movie divas in their own right. »

Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau confirmed today he will not be directing the superhero team-up movie The Avengers.
There has been persistent speculation Favreau would steer the daunting task of combining Marvel’s carefully constructed stand-alone films into the massive summer 2012 release, but he put an end to those rumors today.
“They’ll have to [find a different director], because I’m not going to be available,” Favreau told MTV. “It’s something I’m being the executive producer on, so I’ll definitely have input and a say.”
“It’s going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with ‘Avengers’ you’re going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor. How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it’s going to take a »

During a conversation with MTV on the set of Couples Retreat, Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau stated categorically that he won't be directing The Avengers movie, which unites Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
"They'll have to [find a different director], because I'm not going to be available," he explained. "It's something I'm being the executive producer on, so I'll definitely have input and a say."
"You need somebody who has the perspective of all the different franchises to bring them together," Favreau continued. "I have the myopic vision of just knowing and loving Iron Man."
So who is the likely candidate to direct The Avengers? Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) and Louis Leterrier are the favored contenders; both still waiting to learn if Marvel will pick one of them. Vaughn was previously attached to shepherd Thor, but was forced to drop out.
Favreau added that Edward Norton will not appear in his Iron Man sequel, »

Jon Favreau is not directing Marvel's The Avengers. At least, that is what he's still saying after months of rumors. MTV caught up with Favreau at the press junket for his latest film, Couples Retreat, in which he stars alongside Vince Vaughn. When they asked the actor/director about his rumored involvement with The Avengers, he was very specific about staying out of the director's chair. "They'll have to [find a different director], because I'm not going to be available," he explained. "It's something I'm being the executive producer on, so I'll definitely have input and a say."
