As we've mentioned previously, November 10th is the release date of the band Flyleaf's new CD, entitled Memento Mori, and to help celebrate the occasion, their bass player, Pat Seals, has taken time out of his hectic schedule to prepare for Dread Central readers a list of his Top Ten favorite horror movies.
Nothing relieves the stress of the holidays -- or anything really -- like a good horror flick, and Pat certainly has prepared an eclectic catalog that shows he knows his shit about our genre!
Without further ado, here's Pat's list (click each image to see the full poster):
1. The Addiction (1995) - Dir. Abel Ferrara, Starring Lili Taylor
This is my favorite vampire movie. It is the best. The best. Morality and the darkness of human nature are the focus, and Lili Taylor's performance is brutal. Plus, Christopher Walken waltzes in for a philosophical cameo. The »

There are many theories, ideas or should I say 'schools of thought' on how the world would end. At the height of the Cold War, nuclear annihilation ranks at the very top. While others argue it will not be man who will destroy the world (directly) but - an epidemic of global proportions (most probably from a potent strain of virus - think: I am Legend) or severe climactic change (another ice age perhaps? That would be Day After Tommorow right?) or mechanical uprising (The Terminator, anyone?) or even attack from the outside - conquering aliens (Mars Attacks!) or perhaps an asteroid. And let's not forget zombies!

The mystery surrounding Christopher Nolan's upcoming thriller Inception has been extremely hard to penetrate. Along with the earlier trailer revelation that it contains airborne hallway battles, there's the photographic "reveal" this weekend that the movie will feature a sharply dressed Leonardo DiCaprio sitting dangerously on a window sill.
In addition, Nolan favorite Michael Caine has offered up a small tidbit about his role: "I play a professor who's teaching a guy science," Caine told Empire. "It's Leonardo DiCaprio. He's going off to do a science project and he speaks to me before he goes."
Caine couldn't reveal more because he was only handed his one scene, but another Nolan regular, Cillian Murphy, has seen the entire script and still wouldn't reveal much about the movie to MTV.
This is my third film with Chris. He showed me the whole script. It's very very complex and amazing. I'm hugely excited »

There is, apparently, some bit of a problem on the acting horizons for two Canadian talents - Ellen Page and Michael Cera.
- - -
- - - A report from The Star, the online version of the largest Canadian daily newspaper, explains why:
Ellen Page and Michael Cera, the Juno duo who until recently were our brightest new cinematic lights from sea to shining sea, and also all points south of the 49th Parallel.
Halifax's Page parlayed her precociously preggers title teen in Jason Reitman's hit film into a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars, a rare Canuck achievement. Brampton's Cera came to Juno already a star, having already lit up screens here and stateside in the super-popular movie Superbad and the cult TV fave Arrested Development.
- - -
It gives me no pleasure to report this, or to baldly state the obvious reason why Cera and Page are currently floundering: typecasting. »

A slow week this time around, but it ended with a big post. Three of the Top 10 stories involved Brian Bendis, while the week's top post hit the site less than 24 hours ago!
Curious which one it was?
Here's how the week looked for the Top 10 stories:
10. Can Thor play nice with the rest of the Marvel movies? Brian Bendis thinks so.
9. That "Torso" movie? Not. Dead. Yet.
8. Cillian Murphy's hoping for "Batman 3"... and so are we.
7. Why is "Batman & Robin" one of the most important comic book movies ever made?
6. Looks like "Smallville" has a few new members—namely, the Jsa!
5. Waitaminute... So now "Thor" has Robert DeNiro and Jude Law?
4. Sam Raimi did more than just confirm Bruce Campbell's presence in "Spider-Man 4"...
3. Brian Michael Bendis shared his plans for the upcoming Marvel series "Ultimate Enemy."
2. Jackie Earle Haley confessed that he hadn't heard about the »

Cillian Murphy recently told MTV that he hopes "they make a third [Batman]." The actor portrayed the villain Scarecrow in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
[The Dark Knight is] one of the greatest blockbuster mainstream movies. If anyone can match that or top that it's [director] Chris [Nolan]. Fingers crossed.
Murphy is currently working with Nolan on his mysterious thriller, Inception. However, that doesn't mean Murphy has heard anything about Nolan's return for Batman 3.
We don't talk about those things. It's out of my control.

Cillian Murphy, who played the Scarecrow in Batman Begins and returned to the role briefly in The Dark Knight, says that he is hopeful of a third instalment in Christopher Nolan's superhero series.
Murphy, who also appears in Nolan's upcoming sci-fi thriller Inception, said: "I hope they make a third one, I think The Dark Knight was one of the greatest films.
"[It's] one of the greatest blockbuster mainstream movies. If anyone can match that or top that it's Chris. Fingers crossed"
But he admitted he knows nothing about Nolan's intentions toward a possible third Batman film.
"We don't talk about those things," Murphy told MTV. "It's out of my control."
Asked about Inception, he said: "This is my third film with Chris. He showed me the whole script. It's very very complex and amazing. I'm hugely excited for next year when it comes out.
"It's conceptual. It doesn't fit into any genre. »

If you don't by now, you should know that we won't learn a great deal about Christopher Nolan's Inception for a while, maybe not until next July, when it's finally released. And that's probably for the best. This is exactly the kind of movie people mean when they say things like "Why do they always give away too much about movies in trailers?"
So when MTV went trolling to get some answers about Inception from Cillian Murphy, he unsurprisingly talked around anything of real value. "He showed me the whole script. It’s very very complex and amazing," proclaimed Murphy. "I’m hugely excited for next year when it comes out."
There's a key sentence in there: "He showed me the whole script." That tells us there's more than a snowball's chance in hell other cast members didn't see the whole script. »

Actor Cillian Murphy has expressed hope that a sequel to The Dark Knight is in the works. Murphy appeared in Batman Begins as the villainous Scarecrow, a role that he briefly reprised in director Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. "I hope they make a third one," he told MTV News. "I think The Dark Knight was one of the greatest films. "[The Dark Knight is] one (more) »

Cillian Murphy returned for "The Dark Knight" after helping relaunch the Batman movie franchise as The Scarecrow in "Batman Begins." Murphy re-teams with director Christopher Nolan for his new film "Inception," so there is little doubt that Nolan would want him back if there's a Jonathan Crane role to be filled in "Batman 3"—and Murphy remains hopeful that a third installment is in the works.
"I hope they make a third one," he told MTV News. "I think 'The Dark Knight' was one of the greatest films."
Just because he's hopeful, however, doesn't mean that Nolan has shared his intentions on the "Inception" set.
"We don’t talk about those things," Murphy explained "It's out of my control."
Murphy spoke highly of Nolan's accomplishments with his Batman films thus far, though, and sounded optimistic that "The Dark Knight" may not turn out to be the series' peak.

Inception marks Michael Caine’s fourth collaboration with director Christopher Nolan. Although Caine has already mentioned that his role in the film is “just a tiny part,” his description marks the first reveal of his character. “I play a professor who’s teaching a guy science,” Caine told Empire Magazine. “It’s Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s going off to do a science project and he speaks to me before he goes.”
Filming for Inception is currently in the Los Angeles leg, and will continue on to Calgary in November. The film, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Tom Hardy, hits theaters July 16, 2010. »

Chris Nolan instantly became one of my favorite current filmmakers after I saw Memento. Since then, he has joined the ranks of Scorsese and Spielberg as a mega-director who has total fidelity to his own artistic vision. The Dark Knight, rather than being an obstruction for his career, has actually given him license to make just about anything he wants. What he wants, of course, is to make Inception, but nobody exactly knows what that is. It’s a sci-fi film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. A trailer has been released. But few other details have emerged about the story. Recently, both MTV and Empire (via First Showing) have interviewed members of the cast, but they won’t reveal anything besides the fact that it’s the most amazing thing you’ll ever see ever. First, Cillian Murphy shares his thoughts with MTV: “This is my third film with Chris,” Murphy said. »

In order to respect the filmmaker's wishes and to maintain the integrity of the film itself, I've decided to no longer post any story or spoiler details surrounding Christopher Nolan's Inception, which is due out next July. However, I am not opposed to running more teaser tidbits and quotes, like these today that come from both MTV and Empire, especially because they only make the film even more mysterious. MTV talked with Cillian Murphy and Empire talked with Michael Caine, who are both in the film in roles that we don't yet know much about (and neither were shown in the teaser trailer). You've got to hear what they each said. Michael Caine revealed the most, saying that his role was very small (barely more than a cameo), and they wouldn't even let him see the full script. "They wouldn't let me read the script. I only got my page. »
