Mpc has updated their website with some behind-the-scenes VFX breakdowns of what you can see in “Dorian Gray.”
Dorian Gray (Ben Barnes) is a young man of impossible physical beauty whose portrait painted by the artist Basil Hallward (Ben Chaplin). Drawn into a corrupt and sensual life by the dissolute Lord Henry Wotton (Colin Firth), Dorian remains young and beautiful, while the painting ages in his stead.
The movie directed from the script by Toby Finlay also stars Emilia Fox as Lady Victoria Wotton, Rebecca Hall as Emily Wotton and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Sybil Vane.

Solomon Kane, based on Conan creator Robert E. Howard’s series of stories, begins the film slashing his way around the world destroying anything, and anyone, who gets in his way. He even kills his own men, especially when they show cowardice. This tirade of evil comes to a screeching halt once Kane encounters the Devil’s Reaper, whom the devil has sent to collect Kane’s soul. Kane, barely escaping with his life, realizes his evil ways have led him to this point and decides that he must change if he is to survive. Once he realizes the error of his ways, he then embarks on a new life, relinquishing violence and his evil ways in an effort to achieve redemption.
Of course, if Kane had stuck to that decision, this would be a very short movie indeed. Fortunately, he doesn’t and inevitably must return to his violent ways. »

First trailer for writer / director Michael J. Bassett's adaption of Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane. James Purefoy stars as the puritan avenge,r alonside a cast that includes Rachel Hurd-Wood, Max von Sydow and Pete Postlethwaite.
Kanes's past is only vaguely hinted at in the original tales, but Bassets script gives Kane an origin story: When the story opens Kane is a mercenary of Queen Elizabeth I fighting in Africa, but after an encounter with a demon, The Reaper, he realizes he must seek redemption or have his soul damned to Hell. He returns to England and lives a life of peace, converting to puritanism, but soon the doings of an evil sorcerer upset his plans and he must take up arms again.
The trailer comes courtesy of IGN.
I recommend grabbing a copy of Del Rey's "The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane" which collects the original Kane »

Solomon Kane Written and Directed by Michael J. Bassett Starring: James Purefoy, Pete Postlethwaite, Max Von Sydow and Rachel Hurd-Wood For those of you not familiar with Solomon Kane as a character, here's a quick lesson: Robert E. Howard, the legendary creator of Conan the Barbarian, created Solomon Kane back in the pulp-era. A 16th century Puritan, with a sombre outlook. A valiant leader and fighter armed with a rapier, a dagger and two flintlock pistols, pale skin, cold eyes, dressed in black, shadowed by a slouch hat. Solomon Kane was once a man of pure evil. Killing and stealing as he pleased. But this life of pillaging and plundering in North Africa in the late 1500's has got the attention of the Devil and the Devil has layed claim to Solomon Kane's tortured and lost soul. The only way for him to save his soul is to redeem himself, »

A day or so ago I added the Russian-language version of the Solomon Kane trailer, but didn't promote it because I assumed the number of readers around this space that understand Russian are probably limited. However, today the English-language version has arrived and considering I had quite a bit of fun with the footage screened for this little actioner at Comic Con I felt it was one worth pubbing even though it doesn't have an official release date and I fear it will only end up on DVD and Blu-ray here in the States. The film is an adaptation of the pulp novels of Robert E. Howard, author of "Conan the Barbarian," first serialized in the 1920s and '30s, Solomon Kane is planned as the first in a trilogy. The film is an epic tale of a 16th century soldier tormented by his past evil deeds, seeking redemption by »

We brought you the Russian trailer premiere only yesterday and now here it is, one we can all understand. With any luck I'll stop reading comparisons to Wolfhound.
