Hopefully, that will finally be the right one that will lead for the sequel to officially happen. Beetlejuice 2 gets a new writer

The long-in-development Beetlejuice 2, the sequel to Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s cult hit, has gained a screenwriter over at Warner Bros. Per Deadline, the studio has hired Mike Vukadinovich (Rememory) to pen the script with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg producing.

Burton and Keaton have not signed any deals for the sequel yet, but Deadline claims that the pair are excited at the prospect of re-teaming for the film. They are currently shooting the live action Dumbo for Disney together, with Keaton starring as V.A. Vandemere, the ruthless circus ringleader who want to exploit Dumbo.

The original film was released in 1988 and starred Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Genna Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Jeffery Jones. Baldwin and Davis were ghosts who hire Betelguise (pronounced Beetljuice) to scare away the occupants of their old home until Beetlejuice’s antics get out of hand. The film spawned an

Beetlejuice 2 still alive, hires new writer

Mike Cecchini Oct 13, 2017

There's still a Beetlejuice sequel in the offing - and it even has a new writer...

They just won't let Beetlejuice die. Warner Bros. has been trying to get Beetlejuice 2 off the ground almost since the original hit theaters, with the project going through any number of different iterations over the last nearly 30 years. Despite the fact that sequels this belated don't make the most sense under the very best of circumstances, let alone when one features characters who are dead and therefore shouldn't be aging anymore, there are still plans to get Beetlejuice 2 made with both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton.

Beetlejuice 2 Finally Moves Forward with New Writer

There's some new life for Beetlejuice 2. The project has been in development, in some form or another, for years and has never found its way to becoming a reality. Now, Warner Bros. is giving it another try, as they've hired screenwriter Mike Vukadinovich to pen a new version of the script for Beetlejuice 2. Depending on how that goes, we may see Tim Burton and Michael Keaton return for the sequel, but it sounds like we're a long way from that actually happening. But the movie is in active development.

The news comes courtesy of Deadline, who report that, while Warner Bros. is working on a new script for Beetlejuice 2, that doesn't mean the movie is actually going to happen. The report notes that Tim Burton, who directed the original movie, and Michael Keaton, who brought the titular character of Beetlejuice to life, have not yet officially inked a deal to return.

Beetlejuice 2 is Actually Moving Forward and it Has a New Writer

Over the past few years, there's been a lot of talk about a sequel to Tim Burton's classic film Beetlejuice. It looked like it was actually really close to happening in 2016. In one day Tim Burton said that film was ready to start shooting and then a few hours later said it wasn't in development. We haven't really heard anything regarding the movie since, other than Michael Keaton saying, "it's possible that ship has sailed."

Now today it's being reported that Warner Bros. is putting Beetlejuice 2 back into development and they've hired Mike Vukadinovich (Rememory) to rewrite the script that was originally written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).

Burton is currently working on Dumbo for Disney, so maybe Warner Bros. is looking to get Beetlejuice 2 into a place of development where Burton can jump on board and direct when he's done with Dumbo.

Beetlejuice 2 Gets A New Lease Of Life As Warner Drafts In Screenwriter Mike Vukadinovich

Mike Vukadinovich has been tasked with resurrecting Beetlejuice 2 from the brink of irrelevancy.

Deadline has the scoop, confirming that Vukadinovich has been drafted in to pen a new treatment for the long-in-development sequel. Neither Tim Burton nor Michael Keaton have signed on just yet, though Deadline is reporting that both director and star are interested in revisiting the genre oddity of ’88, possibly courting Winona Ryder back to the Netherworld in the process.

It’s worth pointing out that Burton and Keaton are currently working together on the live-action Dumbo that is poised to take flight at Disney, thereby joining a long list of reimagined fairytales that includes everything from Mulan to Jon Favreau’s star-studded rendition of The Lion King. For Beetlejuice 2, though, the project currently has Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions on board to produce, but beyond that, there’s not much to report at this early,
