Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 Needs to Go Full-On Mystical

It’s no secret that the fan-response to Netflix’s Iron Fist series was lukewarm at best. Before it was released, the Finn Jones-starring series received a fairly large amount of hype as the formation of the Defenders approached. On top of that, Iron Fist was already a very popular character from the comics — meaning that fans already had high expectations for the Living Weapon’s first foray into live-action television. However, longtime comic fans were ultimately left disappointed with a series that opted to show an Iron Fist only coming into his own instead of a full-fledged superhero.

Deborah Ann Woll Teases What Lies Ahead In Daredevil Season 3

Even if The Defenders struggled to retain a steady viewership over the summer – analysts deemed it to be the least-watched Marvel/Netflix series yet – those four street-level heroes are all gearing up for another round of standalone stories.

Top of the pile is Jessica Jones, given Melissa Rosenberg and Co. wrapped filming on season 2 a few months ago. Luke Cage is also back on the streets of Harlem, and we’ve already caught a glimpse of Misty Knight’s bionic arm. Meanwhile, Iron Fist, the second pillar of Marvel’s beloved Heroes For Hire, is also in production, what with Finn Jones currently training for another spell as the illustrious Danny Rand.

That leaves Daredevil (Aka The Man Without Fear), which is seemingly all set to adapt the famous “Born Again” comic book storyline by Frank Miller. Last we checked in on Matt Murdock, he was recovering in some form of orphanage,

Danny Hits The Streets Of NYC In First Iron Fist Season 2 Photos

Proving that even overwhelmingly negative reviews can’t keep a Marvel franchise down, work has now begun on the second season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, with two new set photos leaking from the production.

The pics show Finn Jones back in character as Danny Rand Aka the Immortal Iron Fist (he’s the Protector of K’un-l’un and the Sworn Enemy of the Hand, don’t you know?) on the streets of New York. The second photo also sees him joined by on-screen love interest Jessica Henwick, reprising her role as kickass martial artist Colleen Wing.

The last time we saw Danny and Colleen was in The Defenders, where they’d joined with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and their allies to defeat the Hand once and for all. The experience had a big impact on Danny, in particular, as he was left with a greater sense of

Alice Eve cast in Marvel’s Iron Fist season 2

When Marvel’s Iron Fist returns to Netflix for its second season, it will have Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) among its ranks.

Eve will star as a regular role throughout the season, but Marvel is staying mum right now on who exactly her character is and whether she’s an ally or enemy of the immortal Iron Fist. However, a recent report made just days ago suggests Marvel may have decided on a female villain for the second season.

“We are very excited to have an actress of Alice’s stature join the cast of Marvel’s Iron Fist,” Marvel’s head of television and series executive producer Jeph Loeb said. “Her exceptional talent brings an intrigue and danger to her character unlike anyone else.”

“We’re over the moon that Alice Eve is joining us this season,” said Raven Metzner, Iron Fist‘s showrunner and executive producer.

Rumour: Villain for Marvel’s Iron Fist season 2 reportedly revealed

With filming on the second season of Marvel’s Iron Fist slated to begin this month, That Hashtag Show has come across a casting call for the Netflix series which the outlet believes may have revealed which villain Finn Jones’ Danny Rand will be going up against. The casting call reads:

[Tanya Parker] (late-20’s, open ethnicity) As a freelance covert operative, Tanya has carried out many high-level missions. A chameleon adept at playing roles, Tanya inhabits the “part” that best fits the mission. Series Regular

According to the site, Tanya Parker could well be a placeholder name for Lady Gorgon, a character affiliated with the Hand, who made her comic book debut in Punisher: War Zone, where she was hired to assassinate Frank Castle. However, this is purely speculation at this point, but with casting underway it shouldn’t be too long until we get some official news on the second season.

As revealed earlier this month, Mike Colter’s Power Man won’t be the only Defender appearing in the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage, with Finn Jones set to reprise his role as Iron Fist in what could potentially be the start of the two characters’ Heroes for Hire partnership.

While details on Jones’ level of involvement are being kept under wraps, Colter has been chatting to Black Film about Danny Rand’s inclusion in the new season:

“He will bring some fresh blood in the new season and I’m hoping that people will respond to it well,” said Colter. “We are teamed up for a bit. That’s the whole point of bringing that flavor to it. The Heroes For Hire Come To Blows In Latest Set Photos For Luke Cage Season 2

Marvel’s Heroes for Hire aren’t known for seeing eye to eye – not first, at least.

That’s a tension we saw take hold in The Defenders, when Luke Cage and Iron Fist first crossed paths, much to the delight of Marvel’s comic book audience. But with The Hand reeling and Midland Circle reduced to rubble, those street-level heroes – along with Daredevil and Jessica Jones – are now preparing to circle back to their own individual series.

Then again, this being a Marvel joint, there is always room for a crossover and sure enough, Mike Colter has already gone on record about a potential Heroes for Hire arc in Luke Cage season 2. Filming is now underway on the streets of New York City, and fan site FinnJones.com has relayed another helping of set photos to prove it. Embedded below, these action shots see Danny Rand and Luke Cage
