Follow Daybreakers on Twitter

Are you guys looking as forward to Daybreakers on January 8th as we are here at Dread Central? If so, you'll definitely want to take a moment to head over to Twitter and start following the new Daybreakers feed.

Click here to join in the fun, which basically tells the story of what happened before the film begins. @willthedaybreak follows a character who is witnessing the outbreak as it occurs and is desperately trying to figure out what is going on and how he can survive it.

For example, here are the first couple of tweets:

Someone tried to bite me! Wtf! I’ve barricaded myself in. Does anyone know what's going on?

The news is saying nothing. Think it’s some sort of outbreak. It’s chaos out there. Can’t reach anyone. Went to leave my apartment today but the corridor was covered in blood. Went back inside. »

Todd Lincoln Prepping Shoot for The Apparition

Bucking the trend of updating the masses via Twitter, Todd Lincoln has instead opted to communicate via Facebook, where he provided an update on the status of The Apparition, which he's writing and directing for Joel Silver's Dark Castle.

Lincoln wrote the following as his most recent Facebook update: "in Berlin prepping The Apparition. Love my crew. We're building our sets on the same stage that Polanski recently shot on and that Fritz Lang shot Metropolis."

Now that's some heady history there! The Studio Babelsberg, located in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany, is the oldest large-scale film studio in the world. Founded in 1911, it covers an area of about 270,000 square feet.

Last we heard, Dark Castle was shooting for a February 1, 2010, start date so things appear to be on track. The Apparition, which is inspired by true events, centers on a young couple haunted by a supernatural presence that's unleashed during a college experiment. »

Star Wars ... With Zombies!

"Star Wars" and "Zombies". Those are three words that just immediately bring a smile to our faces when put together. Ever wonder what the famed series would have looked like with a little undead goodness seeping in through the flying ships and horrendous dialogue? (I'm looking at you Episodes I-iii!)

StarWars.com recently celebrated a zombie themed week with different artists submitting their individual takes on their favorite movies. Artist Matt Busch totally knocked it out of the park with his that showcases the zombie evolution of each of the characters! Dig it!

Boston Residents: Catch a Double Feature of Silent Night, Deadly Night and Black Christmas This Friday!

If you're from the Boston area and you're looking to ring in the holiday season with a double bill of horror classics, then keep reading for info on where you can catch the original Black Christmas and Silent Night, Deadly Night.

The slashing is set to occur at the Brattle Theatre this Saturday, beginning at 10pm. Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Cambridge Ma 02138, there's no better way to get into the Christmas mood.

I love the Brattle. It's one of the few theaters in my area that bothers to show genre classics and I urge any local, fellow horror fans to head on out and support the screening. The only drawback is that the audience can occasionally fill up with hipster coffee house rats whose only aim is to ridicule something that's "old and cheesy." I'm all for good natured ribbing (Sndn should be especially fun with the »

Space. Ever think that one day we'll be cruising around the galaxy as simply as we do now our highways? One thing's for sure ... the aliens out there seem to be a lot more dangerous than the Border-crossers here!

The Hollywood Reporter got word today that both Louise Linton and Sean Patrick Flanery (pictured) have landed roles in the upcoming sci-fi/horror flick Scavengers.

The film focuses on crews of space scavengers competing for supplies, energy, and treasure. 20 hours ago

Another exclusive image from Tim Sullivan's upcoming sicko-sequel 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams has fallen into our laps but that's not the only cool news here ... Director Tim Sullivan is reaching out to fans to add a bit music to the carnage? Who wouldn't want their band associated with Tim's special brand of mayhem and fun?!?

Message from Tim

“Calling all musicians and producers! I need a couple of sexy pop tunes to use in 2001 Maniacs: Field Of Screams for crazy “girl on girl” type scenes with the Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie characters. (These scenes are currently temped with Pink’s “So What”, Rihanna’s “Shut Up and Drive”, Katy Ferry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and Madonna’ “Sorry”).

The Wolfman Gets a Rating -- And it's the One We've All Been Hoping For!

Yes! Yes, yes, yes! Just got word that Universal's upcoming remake of The Wolfman has scored itself a nice hot and drippy rating from the MPAA!

The film has been rated 'R' for bloody horror, violence and gore. Considering lycanthropes usually maim, tear, and shred their victims into itty-bitty pieces this makes nothing but sense. Very good sense. We're liking this flick more and more each day!

Look for the film here in theatres on February 12th, 2010.

Synopsis

"Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Lawrence »

New Trailer: BioShock 2

How we loved every second spent in Rapture. There's no doubt the original BioShock earned every bit of its Game of the Year award upon its release and its sequel BioShock 2 looks to be delivering more of the goods we've come to love and then some. Don't believe me? Check out the new trailer for the game dubbed, "Siren Alley".

Synopsis

Set on New Years Eve of 1970, ten years after the events of BioShock, Rapture is now under the control of a woman named Sophia Lamb, whose ideas of human progression contrasts with the city's founder, Andrew Ryan. While Ryan believed in the genius of the individual, Lamb believes in collective effort and the power of the community, as well as a philosophy surrounding butterfly imagery, indicating some kind of rebirth. This message is spread by a deranged ex-priest, who has created a cult-like religion around Sophia. Additionally, to maintain order in the city, »
