The actor and counsel were in court Monday for opening arguments in Woods' negligence case against a Rhode Island hospital, which he maintains made fatal errors that resulted in his 49-year-old brother's death from heart failure in 2006. Woods, who filed the suit the suit on behalf of Michael Woods' estate and teenage son, says that the doctors who treated his brother at Kent Hospital failed to realize his heart was failing, even after an Ekg came back abnormal. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has taken a pass on Sean Penn. Allegations that the Oscar winner kicked and slugged a paparazzo who tried to snap a few shots of Penn at the Brentwood Country Mart have been referred to to the L.A. City Attorney's Office for consideration after prosecutors concluded that Penn's actions didn't constitute a felony. Nicholas Prugo, one of the key suspects in of a series of celebrity-targeting burglaries, was placed in protective custody after a Nevada court errantly shared an affidavit with the media that detailed what the 18-year-old L.A. teen had been telling investigators about the crimes.
