Aclu Backs Trump on First Amendment Right to Shout ‘Get ‘Em Out of Here!’ at Rally (Video)

Talk about strange bedfellows. In a rare show of unity with President Donald Trump, the American Civil Liberties Union agrees with the chief executive’s argument that he had a First Amendment right to yell “Get ‘em out of here!” at his campaign rallies last year even if protesters ended up “manhandled by the crowd.” “There is no question that Trump’s decision to use his bully pulpit to actually bully protesters and to rile up his crowds against them is morally despicable,” Lee Rowland, senior staff attorney at the Aclu’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, wrote in her »

Chris Pratt on What Went Wrong With ‘Suicide Squad': ‘Too Many Characters’

Yes, “Suicide Squad” was panned by fans and critics, and Chris Pratt has a theory as to what went wrong with the DC film. “I really like all the Warner Bros. movies,” Pratt told io9 at last week’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” junket. “I think they’re really cool and I’m not a real tough critic on those movies. But one of the flaws might have been they were introducing too many characters in ‘Suicide Squad.’ They spent 10 minutes telling us why should we care about these characters, rather than creating trilogies for each character and convincing us to care. »

Why Virtual and Augmented Reality Are Primed for an Explosion in Acquisitions This Year (Guest Blog)

Despite Facebook’s blockbuster $3 billion Oculus acquisition in 2014, virtual and augmented reality have been too early-stage for large-scale mergers and acquisitions so far. But that’s set to change in the next 12 to 18 months, so let’s look at what could drive M&A deals going forward. Digi-Capital’s Augmented/Virtual Reality Report Q1 2017 and deals database tracked $1.5 billion investments in the last 12 months to Q1 2017, and found only $600 million of M&As in the same period. That dynamic of investments outstripping M&As is typical of early-stage tech markets, when deal making is all about investment for growth rather than consolidation for. »

Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ Claims Largest Demo Ratings Win Since Trump Inauguration

The Tonight Show” still hasn’t reclaimed the total-viewer crown that Jimmy Fallon previously wore for so long, but NBC’s late-night program just delivered its largest key demo TV ratings win since before President Trump’s inauguration last November. That margin is the biggest in Fallon’s favor since the week of January 9-13. Older-skewing CBS might counter that they focus more on the 25-54 demo, but “Tonight” won that one too. It also cleaned up among millennials, »
