Joss Whedon Is Still Directing Batgirl, But That Could Change

Earlier today, just before Hollywood gets ready to shut down for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, an intriguing report surfaced that claimed Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated Batgirl project would no longer have director Joss Whedon at the helm, but it seems that's not true. That report claimed Warner Bros. made the decision "months ago" not to bring Joss Whedon back for Batgirl, after the Justice League reshoots went on far too long, with a controversial letter written by the director's ex-wife reportedly playing a factor in the studio's "decision" to remove him from Batgirl. However, that initial report from a website dubbed Super Bro Movies has been taken down, while another report citing sources close to the production reveal Joss Whedon is still on board to direct Batgirl.

The report stated that Joss Whedon is currently working on the script for this Batgirl movie and that he is still in fact attached to direct. »

Cheech and Chong Almost Met Jason in Friday the 13th Crossover Movie

Throughout the history of the Friday the 13th franchise, some strange things have happened to Jason. And some even stranger things have been proposed. Some of them cool, some of them weird and some of them flat out baffling. This could have been any one of those things, depending on how it went. As revealed by Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives director Tom McLoughlin, a Jason vs. Cheech and Chong movie could have happened in the late 80s/early 90s.

The director was recently a guest on the Post Mortem podcast. During the conversation, Tom McLoughlin reveals that he was approached to do another Friday the 13th movie. At first, the eventual Freddy vs. Jason movie was pitched, but he didn't feel that was a real possibility. Here's what he had to say about it.

"[Frank Mancuso Jr.] wanted me to do another film after we did Jason [Lives]...And I said, »

James Franco Recreated 30 Minutes of The Room for Disaster Artist

James Franco is out promoting The Disaster Artist movie and he has revealed that they recreated 30-minutes worth of scenes from Tommy Wiseau's The Room. That had to have been a massive undertaking, but in the scenes that we've seen so far, it doesn't look like Franco held back at all in preparation for The Disaster Artist. The movie has been gaining critical praise and early screenings have been overwhelmingly positive. It's pretty amazing that James Franco has pulled off a movie about one of the best/worst movies of all time.

In an early screening for The Disaster Artist at London's Prince Charles Cinema, better known as "The Home of the Room," James Franco revealed that there is a lot more shot-for-shot footage of The Room that didn't make it into The Disaster Artist, which is mind boggling. Franco and crew must have had to watch Tommy Wiseau »

Smallfoot Trailer Turns the Bigfoot Legend Upside Down

Have you ever wanted to see Channing Tatum and LeBron James voice animated Yeti in a movie about friendly Bigfoot creatures? Then you're in luck! Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Smallfoot, which promises exactly that and a whole lot more. This animated flick looks to flip around the whole Bigfoot legend, with the help of quite a few famous people. The trailer itself is pretty charming and is heavy on the Tatum, in addition to sporting some very polished animation.

The Smallfoot trailer opens up with a man climbing up the side of a mountain, with some voiceover telling a tale of a creature steeped in legend. Then, the man comes face-to-face with a Yeti and we realize that this story is being told from the perspective of the Yeti, not the human. At this point, we move to Channing Tatum's character, who's sharing the tale »

While we have no idea what Star Wars 10 will bring, Rian Johnson has broken his silence about the new Star Wars trilogy that he is set to helm, stating that he is in the early stages of the development process. It was announced a few weeks ago that Johnson was going to be getting his own Star Wars trilogy and fans have been left to wonder just what exactly the director is going to do and what story he's going to tell. While we seem to be pretty far away from learning what the new trilogy will be about, Rian Johnson's enthusiasm for the project is visibly hard for him to contain.

At a press event for The Last Jedi in Mexico, Rian Johnson spoke about his Star Wars trilogy and revealed where he is in the planning stage. The director also explained why he was excited to take »

X-Men: Dark Phoenix to Brutally Kill Off a Major Character?

X-Men: Dark Phoenix may be killing off a major character from the franchise in a pretty brutal way. The Dark Phoenix Saga is not only one of the most beloved X-Men storylines, but it's one of the most iconic Marvel Comics stories ever. Period. And adapting it for the big screen was completely botched in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. But next year's X-Men: Dark Phoenix is going to take another crack at it and, at the very least, it sounds like the movie won't pull any punches.

Warning: possible spoilers ahead for X-Men: Dark Phoenix. A new report claims that long-time franchise producer and writer Simon Kinberg, who makes his directorial debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is going to show the full range of Jean Grey's Phoenix powers in the movie. In order to do so, he's going to have her kill off one of the main character's that's »

With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the second trailer for 12 Strong, based on the declassified true story of the Horse Soldiers, the first group of soldiers sent into Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. While there is not necessarily a direct correlation between these soldiers at the Thanksgiving holiday, the trailer opens with a brief segment that features bits of footage with the messages, "Thankful for home," "Thankful for freedom" and "Thankful for family" before the trailer begins.

On our darkest day, they were our greatest hope. 12 Strong is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. Happy Death Day Slashes Past $100 Million at the Box Office

Blumhouse's Happy Death Day has passed the $100 million mark worldwide and is continuing to earn money. Directed by Christopher Landon, Happy Death Day is the third original movie from Blumhouse in 2017. It joins blockbuster movies Split and Get Out, which have grossed $278.3 million and $253.4 million, respectively, worldwide. The latter has received five Independent Spirit Awards nominations. A lot has been said about box office woes this year, but some movies have been able to break through and earn some major profits, Happy Death Day now being one of them.

One of the biggest stories in the entertainment industry this year besides the stories of sexual misconduct has been the dismal year at the box office. Variety dubbed it "officially the worst in over a decade," while others claim that it's been the worst year at the box office in over 2 decades. While there have been some success stories, the horror »

Not surprisingly, Star Wars: The Last Jedi looks like it's going to have an enormous debut at the box office next month. New tracking numbers for the latest entry in the Skywalker saga have arrived and the movie is expected to bring in $200 million or more on its opening weekend. That's not going to be enough to best Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it's still a huge number and one that proves interest in Star Wars is as strong as ever.

Interest in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is tremendously high as fans have many questions, given what happened in The Force Awakens. As such, the movie is going to likely have the biggest opening weekend at the box office of any movie in 2017. Sacha Baron Cohen Offers to Pay Borat Impersonators' Mankini Fines

Last week, a group of 6 Czech tourists got into trouble in real-life Kazakhstan for wearing Borat-style mankinis and they were fined the equivalent of about $67 each for indecency and "minor hooliganism" after wearing the suits in the capital city of Astana. Now, Sacha Baron Cohen has offered to pay the fines in a post from his Facebook page. Baron Cohen clearly appreciated the stunt, especially since it has gotten so much press over the last week. And let's face it, it's pretty damn funny, as long as you're a fan of the Borat character and his unique brand of satire.

Sacha Baron Cohen took to his official Facebook page to offer to pay the fines for the 6 Czech tourists. Sacha Baron Cohen even had an email address set up for the tourists to get into contact with a representative for him and Borat. The actor had this to say. »

Politicians Vow to Stop Predatory Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Loot Boxes

The troubles continue for EA, who have been having nothing but problems since Star Wars Battlefront 2 launched. What was supposed to be a dramatic improvement over the disappointing first game has turned into a total fiasco, as the company's loot box system, which pretty much translates into a "pay to win" system for players, has come under intense scrutiny. Now, state legislators are getting in on the action, accusing EA of exploiting young gamers.

Hawaiian state Reps. Chris Lee and Sean Quinlan have come out publicly to take action against these monetary practices in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Specifically, the legislators see the game's "online casino" as particularly exploitive to young kids who may not have the "cognitive maturity" to understand they're possibly being taken advantage of. Here's what Chris Lee had to say in a statement to the press.

"This game is basically a Star Wars-themed online casino designed »

Batgirl Loses Director Joss Whedon?

A new report suggests that Joss Whedon might not be involved with the Batgirl movie anymore. When Zack Snyder announced that he had to step down from Justice League due to a family tragedy, he revealed that Whedon was going to come in and take over for him. It had been previously revealed by Warner Bros. and Snyder that Joss Whedon was going to come on board to cover the reshoots before Snyder left, but he ended up taking over all directorial duties and finished Justice League, which has left a foul taste in some hardcore Dceu fans' mouths. Whedon's name has been attached to direct Batgirl since the beginning of this year, well before all of the Justice League drama took place, but a new rumor suggests that he is no longer involved.

The reshoots for Justice League went on for much longer than anticipated and it is believed »

Terry Gilliam's Man Who Killed Don Quixote Is Almost Ready After 20 Years

More than 17 years after first trying to get his passion project, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, off the ground, director Terry Gilliam is finalizing his cut of the movie, and it may be ready to hit theaters next year. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote wrapped production in June, with one of its cast members, Oscar Jaenada, revealing in a September interview that they're planning a world premiere at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. While that debut has not yet been confirmed, director Terry Gilliam revealed in a new interview that he has almost finished assembling the cut. Here's what he had to say below.

"Well, we've almost finished the cut. We're just fiddling now, figuring out a few things here and there so it's pretty much what it is. We've got still months of work to do on visual effects, sound, music. But as far as the tale, it's »

Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg Reunite in New Mission: Impossible 6 Photo

A brand new photo from Mission: Impossible 6 has surfaced. Director Christopher McQuarrie shared the photo on social media, which reunites Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg. This is the first official photo that's been released since Cruise suffered his severe injury while filming the movie back in August. Things seem to be moving right along now though and the movie should still be able to make its July 27, 2018, release date, despite the delay.

The new Mission: Impossible 6 photo looks great, in stark black and white, with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt out in front and Simon Pegg's loyal Benji Dunn behind him. The photo doesn't really tell us anything about the movie, but it does serve as a reminder that we're in for another (hopefully) excellent spy adventure next year. With Spectre having disappointed in 2015, Mission: Impossible really has become the premiere spy franchise in Hollywood at the moment. »

Watching Ben Affleck Play with Batman Toys Will Make You Cringe

Justice League is finally in theaters and the promotional campaign rages on, this time with a video showing the stars of the highly anticipated movie playing with their action figures, just in time for the holiday season. While Ezra Miller (The Flash), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) seem absolutely ecstatic about their action figures, Ben Affleck (Batman) looks like he would much rather be somewhere else, doing anything except looking at a grim reminder of the Batman v Superman press tour debacle. Speaking of Superman, Henry Cavill is absent from the video, which could very well be because his action figure looks more like Benedict Cumberbatch.

The new video was released by Amazon to promote the new line of Justice League Mattel toys and as previously mentioned, everybody seems to be genuinely excited to check out their action figures and see their likeness in toy-form. »

Benicio Del Toro's DJ Arrives in Latest Last Jedi Sneak Peek

As the countdown continues towards Star Wars: The Last Jedi, one of the many mysteries fans are looking forward to solving is the involvement of DJ, played by Oscar-winning actor Benicio del Toro, which now may have been at least partially solved. There have already been countless theories swirling around this character, including a debunked rumor that the character is actually Ezra Bridger from the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Today, we got a big clue about who D.J. really is. A new Portuguese TV spot has been released, which reveals that D.J. seemingly has ties to the First Order.

The TV spot is largely comprised of footage that we've seen before in the first two trailers, but one of the few new shots features DJ glaring an at unspecified character, which by itself wouldn't be terribly meaningful, however, in the background, we can clearly see a battalion of Stormtroopers, »

First Jurassic World 2 Footage Reveals a Baby Raptor

The creative team behind Jurassic World 2 decided to give fans a bit of an early holiday surprise. The first footage from the highly-anticipated sequel has arrived online and, though it's very brief, it's pretty great. Does this mean a full-length trailer is coming a little sooner than we expected? Possibly, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Let's focus on the footage of Jurassic World 2 that we have at this very moment.

Director J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) released the footage online with the caption, "From our Jurassic family to yours," as a bit of a holiday greeting. The footage is only six-seconds-long, but it should do plenty to get fans excited about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. We see a baby raptor, who looks like Blue from Jurassic World, only as a baby, interacting with Chris Pratt's Owen Grady. Since his outfit is a bit different, this is definitely new for the movie, »

Blade Runner 2049 Box Office Baffles Director: What Went Wrong?

It's been about a month and a half since Blade Runner 2049 hit theaters, and while it was certainly embraced by critics, it still managed to be a box office flop, opening with $32.7 million, far under most projections. All the right pieces seemed to be in place, with Harrison Ford returning as Rick Deckard alongside a talented cast including Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto and more, but it still couldn't find a foothold at the domestic box office, taking in $89.3 million to date, although it has fared better overseas, with a global tally of $252.5 million, from a whopping $150 million budget. Director Denis Villeneuve recently spoke out about the box office failure, which still baffles him to this day.

"I'm still digesting it. It had the best [reviews] of my life. I never had a movie welcomed like that. At the same time, the box office in the United States was a disappointment, »
