Netflix’s Judd Apatow comedy Love to end after season 3

The upcoming third season of Gillian Jacobs (Community) and Paul Rust’s comedy drama Love will be its last.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Netflix had decided to end the Judd Apatow produced series after its third run, which debuts on the streaming service from March 9th 2018.

“I am really excited about the third season of Love,” said Apatow, “I think it is our sweetest, funniest season and ends our story in a beautiful way.”

Apatow co-created the series with Girls collaborator Lesley Arfin and Rust.

Have Netflix cancelled this too early, or was its absence from your browsing menu an indication that the show never had much viewer traction? Let us know what you think.

“The series follows nice guy Gus (Paul Rust) and brazen wild-child Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid. In the second season, »

Zac Efron joins Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum

Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine’s stoner comedy The Beach Bum has added Zac Efron to an already impressive cast that includes Matthew McConaughey and Isla Fisher.

McConaughey will play a stoner named Moondog, who lives by his own set of rules in the Florida Keys. Efron will play a character named Flicker, but that’s about as much as we know about his role. The film will also feature Snoop Dogg and Jimmy Buffet. As you can see from the set pics below, filming is currently underway.

Anthony Mackie and Evangeline Lilly share photos from the Avengers 4 set

Over the past few months, we’ve seen numerous stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe confirming their involvement with the Avengers: Infinity War follow-up, and now we’ve got two more names for Avengers 4 with both Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Falcon) and Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne/Wasp) sharing images from the set…

Sometimes you have to sit back and marvel at where you are… #Marvelcigardays#Infinitywars pic.twitter.com/NskF1aFTFS

Evangeline Lilly (@EvangelineLilly) December 14, 2017

While there’s nothing really exciting there, it’s interesting to note that Lilly is sporting her Ant-Man hairstyle, as opposed to the longer haircut she has in the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp. So, does this mean that Ant-Man and the Wasp will take place after the two Avengers movies, despite being released in between them? Or might we be seeing another flashback? »

Justice League surpasses Logan at the worldwide box office

Justice League may have underwhelmed at the box office, but we do have one bit of good news for Warner Bros., as the DC team-up is not going to finish the year as the lowest-grossing live-action superhero movie.

Going into this weekend, Justice League has pushed its worldwide haul to $625 million, surpassing 20th Century Fox’s Wolverine swansong Logan, which earned $616.8 million earlier in the year. Of course, Logan cost less than a third of Justice League to produce, with a budget of $97 million against the DC blockbuster’s $300 million.

Early reports had claimed that Justice League would need to gross around $650 million to break even, while Man of Steel’s $668 million is the target should it not want to end up the lowest-grossing chapter of the DC Extended Universe. With Star Wars: The Last Jedi now gobbling up ticket sales, it will be interesting to see if it manages to limp to that figure. »

Movie Review – The Foreigner (2017)

The Foreigner, 2017.

Directed by Martin Campbell.

Starring Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan, Rufus Jones, Charlie Murphy, and Orla Brady.

Synopsis:

The story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge fuelled vendetta when the only person left for him to love – his teenage daughter – is taken from him in a senseless act of politically motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.

Jackie Chan’s career in the West has been a mixed bag to put it mildly. Even at the height of his popularity West of China, in Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon etc, he was doing affable (if disposable) entertainment. The trouble was, among his better aforementioned works, he was doing dreadful films like »

X-Men: Dark Phoenix to focus on its female characters

“I really wanted to acknowledge the strength of the women in the comic and in the actresses that we have and the central storyline demands it,” said Kinberg, with the outlet going on to note that “at one point, Mystique actually jokes to Charles that the group should be renamed the ‘X-Women’ due to how often the female characters save the male ones.”

Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner also elaborated on Kinberg’s comments, adding: “It’s really exciting. I think there’s such a revolution in superhero movies. I »

A middle-aged Peter Parker confirmed for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Last week, Sony released the first trailer for its animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is set to mark the big screen debut of Miles Morales.

However, as we saw at the end of the trailer (and as anyone familiar with the Spider-Verse storyline will know), Miles won’t be the only web-slinger to feature in the movie.

According to Collider, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have confirmed that Peter Parker does feature in the film and will serve as a middle-aged mentor passing on the baton to Miles as the new Spider-Man.

You may have caught a brief glimpse of Peter in the trailer, as well as a headstone which suggests that Peter Parker is believed to be dead (suggesting the middle-aged mentor Parker could be from another universe):

The Ten Best Netflix Original TV Series of 2017

Liam Hoofe with a rundown of the best Netflix Original Series of 2017…

I watch a lot of TV. In fact, if you were to ask my girlfriend, she would tell you the amount of TV I watch is seriously unhealthy and that it would be a good idea if I exposed myself to the sunlight from time to time. My argument for this is that there is just far too much good TV for me to miss right now. The rise of streaming services has seen a serious rise in the number of TV shows that are being released these days, and keeping up with that is a full-time job in itself, let alone attempting to write about them.

Of all the channels and services available, though, Netflix is the one that has really stolen my heart. Rarely a week goes by without the service releasing a show that is »

In 1991, Kyle MacLachlan won a Golden Globe for his role in Twin Peaks, and now, 26 years later, he has picked up a nomination for the very same show.

Much was expected of Twin Peaks upon its return and for ardent fans of the surreal David Lynch mystery series, it didn’t disappoint. The Golden Globes certainly seem to agree, handing out a nomination to Kyle MacLachlan for best actor.

Over the moon about the news, MacLachlan provided his response to the nomination (via Deadline), one that is incredibly sweet after first winning for the show all those years ago.

“I’m truly thrilled and humbled by the nomination this morning. What a surreal experience to be nominated today for a role that I was so lucky to win this award for 26 years ago,” said MacLachlan in his official statement. “I am so grateful to the HFPA for this acknowledgment, and »
