Eric Tsang Sues Sex-Harassment Accuser Grace Han

Eric Tsang Sues Sex-Harassment Accuser Grace Han
Actor-director-producer Eric Tsang says he has taken legal action against Grace Han, one of the leading figures in the modeling industry in Greater China. Han recently accused Tsang of making unwanted sexual advances to women in showbiz.

Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, Tsang continued to deny the alleged rape of former actress Yammie Lam and said Han’s allegations that he took advantage of women at an event were defamatory.

“The report about the rape of Yammie Lam was fabricated. I respect women. If there is any investigation that requires my assistance, I’m willing to cooperate,” said Tsang, who was accompanied to the press conference by his lawyers. “I’m determined to defend myself with legal measures and I have taken action against Ms. Han’s accusations.”

Last week, a video interview of Lam, previously published by Next Magazine, in which she said she was raped by two powerful Hong Kong actors two decades ago, resurfaced

Film Review: ‘Chicken’

Film Review: ‘Chicken’
“Sit down; something’s happened.” By the time Polly (a convincingly surly Morgan Watkins) makes this pronouncement to his developmentally challenged younger brother Richard (a riveting Scott Chambers) we’re steeped enough in the world of Joe Stephenson’s “Chicken” — a rural Norfolk, England, of dingy caravans, petty theft and breakfast-time Marmite beverages served in scabbed mugs — to know that there’s no chance it will be something good. But Stephenson’s pure-hearted intentions mostly power his debut through its misery-laden moments, and whenever they threaten to overwhelm the narrative, there’s always Chambers’ wrenchingly authentic performance to marvel at. The pitfalls of playing a mentally disabled character are well documented, but his portrait is both physically and psychologically convincing, and if the film wins its reckless game of cinematic chicken, leaning into its weighty and ostensibly off-putting themes of disability, poverty and violence without flinching, it’s largely because of this remarkable turn — a little miracle

Film Review: ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’

Film Review: ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’
The past few years have been a rather dystopian era for dystopian Ya film adaptations. After “The Hunger Games” became a genuine phenomenon, studios went on a spending spree, scouring increasingly indistinguishable tales of chosen ones and oppressive government regimes for potential franchises, with decidedly mixed results. Ever since Jennifer Lawrence called time on Katniss, “Divergent” has fizzled out rather ignominiously; “Ender’s Game” and “The 5th Wave” proved to be nonstarters; and after a delayed production that saw series lead Dylan O’Brien injured in an on-set accident, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” the third and final entry in Fox’s adaptations of James Dashner’s books, finally arrives this month with relatively little fanfare. Somewhat surprisingly, however, “Maze Runner’s” core team – including original series director Wes Ball – have rallied to give this once middling saga a proper sending-off. Downplaying some of the property’s sillier elements when not jettisoning them entirely, and streamlining

‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ Film Review: Action Soars While the Story Bores
The third and final film in the “Maze Runner” series, subtitled “The Death Cure,” gets it half right as an action movie. The stunts, the explosions and the chases are all exciting and elaborately mounted; there’s just not much of a movie to go with them. When it was announced that last chapter of the on-screen “Divergent” saga was going straight to live on a farm upstate — or, rather, directly to television — it seemed like we’d heard the last gasp of the once ubiquitous, now exhausted Ya genre. But no, here comes “The Death Cure” to pound the...

Thailand Attracts More Film Shoots in 2017

Thailand saw the number of incoming productions drop in 2017. But their value and the number of feature films both increased.

Data from the Thailand Film Office showed that the value of foreign film, TV, video and advertisements shot in the country last year increased 7% from $74.1 million (THB2.37 billion) in 2016 to $79.4 million (THB2.54 billion) in 2017. The number of productions fell from 779 in 2016 to 730 in 2017.

Within the total, the number of feature movies leaped from 50 to 80. Worateera Suvarnsorn, director of the Thailand Film Office said that two films had been able to access the production rebate scheme that was introduced in January 2017. She attributed the increase in feature movies to the promotional efforts of her office. “Over the last few years, we have concentrated particularly on the promotion of Thailand as a location for international feature films, through our attendance at events like Cannes, Afm, and Filmart. It is gratifying to see that this has had a positive effect
