Sharon Horgan has inked a two-year overall deal with Amazon Studios. Amazon has also struck a first-look deal with Merman, the production company Horgan founded with Clelia Mountford.

The pair already have a relationship with Amazon, which has exclusively acquired all seasons of “Catastrophe” for the U.S. Produced by Avalon, Birdbath, and Merman, the comedy series about an unexpected pregnancy and a dysfunctional relationship was co-created by Horgan and Rob Delaney, her co-star on the show, which airs on Channel 4 in Britain.

“Sharon Horgan is one of the sharpest and most engaging actresses, writers, and directors working in television today. Syfy has greenlit “The Outpost,” an original fantasy series for its international networks. “Stargate” producer Dean Devlin and “Stargate SG-1” showrunner Jonathan Glassner will executive produce the 10-part series.

It will bow on NBCUniversal’s Syfy channel across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Australia. Production got underway Tuesday, in Utah, for delivery later in 2018.

The Outpost” will star Jessica Green (“Ash vs. Evil Dead”) as Talon, the lone survivor of a race called the Blackbloods. German-Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu will square off against Michael B. Jordan in Creed 2, MGM and Warner Bros.’ sequel to the 2015 hit that updated Rocky for a new generation, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Steven Caple will direct the movie, which is set to begin shooting in March in Philadelphia.

Jean-Claude Van Damme-Dolph Lundgren’s ‘Black Water’ Bought by Saban

Saban Films has acquired North American rights to Pasha Patriki’s “Black Water,” starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.

The action-thriller is the fifth collaboration between Van Damme and Lundgren. It was produced by Jason Cherubini, Alexander Ferguson, Tyler W. Konney, and Richard Switzer for Dawn’s Light Productions. Saban Films is planning a theatrical release in the second quarter.

Black Water” is written by Chad Law, with a story by Law, Konney, and Switzer. Van Damme portrays a deep cover operative who awakens to find himself imprisoned in a CIA black site on a submarine. With the help of a fellow prisoner and an amateur agent, he must race against the clock to escape the vessel and expose who set him up.

From creators Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the series is based on the true story of the husband and wife team, telling the story of a power couple navigating the landscape of Black Hollywood. The new regulars join the previously announced series leads Michele Weaver, who plays Nuri, and Will Catlett, who plays Yasir.

Starz Names Audrey Lee General Counsel, Executive Vice President

Audrey Lee has joined Starz as executive vice president and general counsel, the premium cabler announced Tuesday.

Lee will report directly to Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht and take over for chief legal officer David Weil, who joined Starz in 2014 and will continue in a consulting role. Based in the company’s Beverly Hills office, Lee will be responsible for developing the strategic direction of business and legal affairs for the company, including affiliate negotiations, content acquisition and production, litigation and compliance.

Billboard Music Awards to Air Live Coast-to-Coast on NBC

NBC will air the Billboard Music Awards live coast-to-coast in a three hour telecast on May 20, the network announced Tuesday.

This will mark the first telecast of the music awards show on NBC. The network acquired the rights to the Billboard Music Awards in a multi-year deal with show producers dick clark productions signed in November. The show had previously been broadcast on ABC since 2011.

Finalists for the awards are based on key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The finalists and award winners are determined using data reflecting a 12-month tracking period. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of artists, songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.
