Storyline

"The Driver" is a specialist in a rare business: he drives getaway cars in robberies. His exceptional talent prevented him from being caught yet. After another successful flight from the police, a self-assured detective makes it his primary goal to catch the Driver. He promises remission of punishment to a gang if they help to convict him in a set-up robbery. The Driver seeks help from "The Player" (Isabelle) to mislead the detective. Quotes

The Detective: I'm gonna help you be a better cop. You know how? You know what you do first thing every morning? Read the sports page. You know why? Best part of the newspaper. Winners, losers, how it happened, score. And we got a much better game than the one they give the players. They don't retire us after 10 years. Just one thing: you gotta be a player. A real player, not just fillin' out a position.

All time classic - but not for everybody.
3 October 1999 | by (Southampton, UK) – See all my reviews

This is a thinking mans movie, which dare I say is why it seems to have a low rating! (at least far lower than I expected). If you watch this just for the car chases, then may I suggest you go and watch The Blues Brothers. The car chases in this film are simply the icing on the cake. Watch it for the characters, their lives, the atmosphere. All time classic.
