The future Faceman may have lost the chance to fly as the Emerald Knight, but DC isn't the only place you can gain superpowers. You can also score them from top secret pharmaceuticals! (Don't try this at home, kids.) According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley Cooper is set to star in Dark Fields, a thriller directed by Neil Burger and based on the book by Alan Glynn.
Cooper will play a writer down on his luck who manages to get his poor paws on a secret drug that promises to make one smarter. He doesn't go ask Alice before popping them, and finds that it's a wonder drug. He enjoys writing success, wealth and women until the side effects kick in. They're long lasting, potentially lethal, and have the extra kick of making time appear as a stop-motion movie. As if that doesn't suck enough, mysterious and unpleasant men begin pursuing him. »

Actor Bradley Cooper has been cast as the lead in director Neil Burger's (The Illusionist) latest thriller, Dark Fields, replacing Shia Labeouf, who was originally up for the role. Cooper will play a struggling writer who experiments with Mdt-48, a drug that helps him tap into his brain's full potential, making him smarter and more charismatic. However, it also has some negative side-effects, such as headaches, blackouts, and violence. After his supply of the drug runs low, he goes in search of more only to discover its origins are deadlier than he could imagine.
Described as being in the same vein as The Game and Fight Club, the Dark Fields screenplay was adapted from Alan Glynn's book of the same name by Leslie Dixon (The Heartbreak Kid). Dixon, Scott Kroopf, and Relativity Media's Ryan Kavanaugh are producing, with Relativity's Tucker Tooley acting as executive producer.

Originally set to star Shia Labeouf as a down-on-his-luck loser who stumbles across a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes him super smart, the thriller “Dark Fields” has found a new leading man in “The Hangover’s” Bradley Cooper. The film, described as being in the vein of trippy David Fincher films “Fight Club” and “The Game”, will be directed by Neil Burger of “The Illusionist” fame, and will be based on the book by Alan Glynn, with big-screen adaptation courtesy of Leslie Dixon. Upon discovering the super drug, Cooper’s writer character experiences sudden financial and social success thanks to his new big brain, but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects, as they surely must. One of these side effects involve “trip-switching,” a phenomenon in which time moves with a stop-motion quality, which will no doubt be revealed onscreen in all manner of groovy visuals. »

Bradley Cooper, who shot to stardom in this summer’s The Hangover, has replaced Shia LeBeouf to star in Relativity Media’s Dark Fields.
Cooper will be playing a writer who’s down on his luck and manages to stumble upon a secret pharmaceutical drug designed to make a person smarter. The drug leads to the writer gaining financial and social success, but of course there’s always a catch. In this case, the drug has lethal side effects, including one that causes time to move in a stop-motion manner.
Dark Fields is said to be along the lines of Fight Club and The Game (both stellar movies, by the way) and, also like Fight Club, is based on a novel.
Alan Glynn’s book has been made into a screenplay by Leslie Dixon, the writer behind the screenplay for The Thomas Crown Affair. Dixon will also serve as producer of Dark Fields, »

On this week's Accidentally On Purpose, Billie and Zack got into their first fight(s) after living in plutonic bliss for so long. During the "Fight Club," Billie got annoyed at Zack for failing to installing a toilet, while Zack got angry at Billie for eating his ribs.
Trust us, it was funnier than it sounds. Don't believe us? Just check out some of the Accidentally On Purpose quotes from the episode:
Olivia: So, you left halfway through your waxing, and now it looks like a seven?
Billie: Or, from my point of view, an L | permalink Billie: Why isn't the toilet where the hole is?
Zack: I don't want to get into complicated plumbing terms right now, but it turns out, I do not know how to install a toilet.
Billie: Well-- this is just it! I mean, there are boundaries! And not peeing on me is one of them, »

I am Jack's raging annoyance.
If you haven't heard yet, Fight Club is finally hitting Blu-ray on November 17, jam-packed full features including new bits about sound design, a search index, a bajillion commentaries, those great PSA's, and behind-the-scenes fare. In other words: a must-have disc if it is even half as good as it sounds. (Read the press release after the jump.)
To kick off the event, a new website has been created at www.welcometofc.com. As Coming Soon says: "The site connects to your Facebook and... you'll have to see what happens next!" For me, that means 30 minutes of annoyance as it "loads" whilst phrases get spray-painted on the wall over, and over, and over again. Marketers might be trying new techniques to connect with the audience, but something tells me that grating on their audience's last nerve is not one of them. Hollywood star Brad Pitt is turning a promotional trip to Japan into a shopping expedition to look for a new motorcycle after his favourite ride was damaged in an accident last month.
The Fight Club actor fell off his motorbike after clipping a parked car while weaving through traffic in Los Angeles. He emerged unscathed but his beloved wheels weren't so lucky.
Pitt blames the accident on the hordes of photographers who were following him at the time, but admits he is excited about perusing top motorcycle manufacturers while promoting his latest movie Inglourious Basterds in Tokyo.
He says, "I had a little mishap. No injuries, except my ego. I was trying to get away from some paparazzi and instead gave them a good story.
"It was my favourite bike, so that is really sad. (But) I will definitely be looking at motorcycles (in Japan). You've got some of the best builders right here." »

I don't think it's much of a stretch to say that the end of a film is the most important part. Only the climax can completely alter what you've just seen. Fight Club would be an entertaining story without the twist ending, but with it, it completely changes everything that has come before it. There of dozens of movies that are just good, but then turn great when the ending reveals itself. Though for everyone one of that type of ending, there are probably three or four shitty endings. Pretty good movies, trucking along and being respectable, then derailed and killed by a shitty ending. I could (and one day will) complain just about bad endings. Unnecessarily sad endings. Endings that want to make a point but end up making no real impact or sense. One example, for me, is Man on Fire, a badass movie that gets to the end where Denzel "Baddest Mother in the »

Actor Edward Norton is celebrating after crossing the finish line at the New York City marathon on Sunday - insisting completing his first ever 26.2 mile (42.2 kilometre) run was "phenomenal".
The 40-year-old Fight Club star completed the sporting challenge in three hours, 48 minutes and one second, according to the race's unofficial athlete tracker.
However, the actor - who battled shin and Achilles pain while training for the event - admits he had doubts his legs would hold up halfway through the race.
In a post-marathon interview, Norton explained, "You know you are going to hit tough spots, in a weird way mine came early in the race, but then I got my second wind around mile 18 (kilometre 28.9) and felt great the rest of the way."
Norton ran the event to raise money and awareness for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which aims to protect the east African grasslands which the Maasai tribe calls home.
According to his official fundraising page, he has raised almost $300,000 (£187,500). »

Edward Norton's an Obama guy. Long before the first-term senator from Illinois secured a four-year stay at the White House, Norton began producing a documentary about Obama's political life. The film, "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama," premieres on HBO next week. A few days before then, Norton is set to run in the Ing New York City Marathon, and among his top goals is beating the former vice-presidential candidate who Obama defeated in the election.
Back in Alaska in 2005, Sarah Palin ran 26-plus miles in under four hours. And when he stopped by MTV News recently, Norton swore he'd destroy that time in this Sunday's race.
"I'm gonna beat Sarah Palin like a rug!" he joked during the interview. "Palin I would like to beat just on principle. »

Edward Norton has managed to persuade three Maasai warriors to ditch their traditional sandals for brand new sneakers as they prepare to run in the gruelling New York Marathon this weekend.
The Fight Club star will be joined by the Kenyan tribesmen when he pounds the streets of the Big Apple on Sunday to raise money for an African conservation charity.
The Maasai warriors have vowed to compete in their traditional robes and beads and had previously insisted on sticking to their open-toed sandals, made from rubber tyres, for the race.
Norton says, "They're very comfortable in those (clothes). That's what they walk and run in at home. That's just sort of their normal day-to-day wear, and they're really comfortable in it."
But Norton has finally convinced his new pals to run in comfortable footwear and take advantage of sports giant Puma, which is sponsoring the team.
The actor took them to a shoe fitting earlier this week (ends30Oct09) and he's hoping the warriors will take the sneakers back to Kenya with them and continue using the footwear.
He says, "The only thing they're still debating a little bit is whether to switch from their sandals to running shoes...
"The guys are getting outfitted for Puma running shoes. They usually run in those (sandals) but I think they might convert... They like their sandals and that's what they run in at home, but they had never run on pavement before, and so they're debating maybe wearing Pumas."
Norton's team will be joined by pals Alanis Morissette and illusionist David Blaine when they line up for the start of the race on Sunday. »
