Logan Lerman will have to deal with Medusa in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief", and his encounter with the character played by Uma Thurman has been teased through the film's newly-found international trailer. In the promo video, it can be seen that Lerman will be making use of modern technology to avoid direct eye contact with the snake-headed female monster.
The footage showing first look at Medusa won't be seen until the international trailer comes nearly to its end part. The majority of footage featured in the trailer, in the meantime, focus on the action Lerman's character, Percy Jackson, will be seen in, from running away from a winged beast to figuring out his magical pen will turn into a sword when he is in trouble.

Here's another list for you to digest as we approach the end of the decade. Jason Kottke [1] recently took a look at the list of highest-grossing films from 2000-2009 courtesy of Wikipedia [2], and makes the observation that only one movie in the top 20 is based on an original screenplay. The rest of the movies are all adaptations of books or sequels to existing franchises. Now, it's pretty easy to jump on this list and whine and moan about how it means there is nothing original in Hollywood anymore. While I agree that there is a problem with studios valuing brand over concept, don't forget, we are talking about the movies that made the most money here. Of Course familiar characters and titles are going to attract more viewers than strange and unfamiliar ones... doesn't that make sense? A lot of people don't even see movies at the theatre, so they »

Attention, casting directors of the world! Want to cast Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman in your new movie? Make sure to shoot it in a location the guy wants to visit. And flesh out the actorly ranks with dudes Hoffman wants to hang out with.
That's pretty much how director Richard Curtis ("Love Actually") and his team nabbed the actor for "Pirate Radio."
"It wasn't really the topic or the theme," Hoffman told MTV News, explaining why he signed on to the project. "The script I thought was very sharp and very funny. And I also thought the idea of it could be oddly moving. But the biggest thing was, 'Oh, God, how great would it be to go to »

The power of Michael Jackson lives on - and it's proving enough to conquer the mystical might of the Lord of the Rings.
The late singer's upcoming concert movie Michael Jackson's This Is It has overtaken Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - the first film in Peter Jackson's trilogy - in a league table of films with the highest advance ticket sales of all time.
MovieTickets.com said This Is It had knocked The Fellowship of the Ring of the 25th place in the chart.
The Jacko film documents the star's preparations for his planned 50-date concert series and will be released on October 28. Sony Pictures edited hundreds of hours of rehearsal footage to create the movie after paying $60million for the film rights.
A Michael Jackson single and album with the same title are also set to be released.

I love the Harry Potter series (books and movies), and I care about every teacher and child within Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix. I shed tears whenever J.K. Rowling killed off another one of the good guys. But when inevitably my attention constantly strays back to the Death Eaters and while this post centers on Lucius Malfoy, I'm rather entranced by them all: Lucius' wife Narcissa, her sister Bellatrix, Severus Snape, and Igor Karkaroff. They have the best costumes, the nastiest lines, and some of the finest special effects. (The way they operate in black smoke makes even broomsticks seem dull.)
But my favorite Death Eater remains Lucius Malfoy. Chris Columbus' installments have been harshly dismissed by cinephiles, but I think it's time to back down from the cries of "Alfonso Cuaron saved the series!", because Columbus accomplished a very weighty task: He set the stage. Every »

The good folks over at Empire [1] managed to score some new stills last week from the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans, which is being directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Transporter 2). As you can see in the pictures, they're really going all out with the costume design courtesy of Lindy Hemming (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Dark Knight, Casino Royale). Most of the pics feature Sam Worthington as Perseus, but we've also got our first look at Liam Neeson as Zeus thanks to an on-set snapshot from Entertainment Weekly [2]. Now that's what I call armor! What do you say, is this shaping up to be the epic blockbuster that you were expecting? Clash of the Titans hits theatres on March 26th, 2010. Another teaser trailer for "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" has been making its rounds. This promo video comes from the now-available "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" DVD. Although the second half is dominated by footage from the first teaser, the first half offers more never-before-seen footage.
Instead of focusing only on Logan Lerman's Percy Jackson and his adventure, this new sneak peek gives out first look at other characters. Rosario Dawson's Persephone, Steve Coogan's Hades, Sean Bean's Zeus and Pierce Brosnan's Chiron are among those unraveled in the teaser.
Adapted from Rick Riordan's first novel in the "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" series, "The Lightning Thief" centers its story on 12-year-old Percy.
