New Moon Volturi Interview, Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen

7 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST | MoviesOnline.ca | See recent MoviesOnline news »

We caught up with all the members of the Volturi and got to talk to them about their new film New Moon. Those who participated in the interview are as follows; Michael Sheen (Aro), Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius), Dakota Fanning (Jane) and Cameron Bright (Alec).

The Twilight Saga: New Moon marks the first appearance of the Volturi, the closest the vampire world has to royalty and a major force in the future of the saga. Centuries old and unimaginably powerful, they serve as lawmakers and enforcers for the community. The leader of the group is Aro, played by Michael Sheen. Sheen is no stranger to this world, having played a werewolf enslaved by the vampires in the Underworld series.

Q: Dakota, as such a fan of the series, you’ve said in many interviews before that you were really excited about this so what were the highlights of playing Jane »

Eminem to Star in 3-D Horror 'Shady Talez'

6 November 2009 9:15 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

A cameo appearance in 2009's "Funny People" apparently isn't enough for Grammy-winning rapper Eminem. Screen Daily recently broke the news that the Slim Shady is looking forward to make his return to the big screen by starring in a new 3-D anthology horror film entitled "Shady Talez".

The 37-year-old rapper reportedly will take on multiple roles in the movie described by the site as "The Twilight Zone" meets "Creepshow", in addition to producing it. Should the rumors contain any truth, it will be the first time he stars in a movie after he impressed many with his performance as Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith, Jr. in 2002's "8 Mile".

"Shady Talez" is being co-written by "The Last Dragon" scribe Dallas Jackson and "Underworld" creator Kevin Grevioux. Jackson will also produce the movie along with Eminem and John Davis. The movie is said to being turned into a four-issue comic book series due out »

Eminem Starring in Shady Talez, a 3D Anthology Horror Movie

6 November 2009 3:04 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Aww shit dawg! Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, will star in Shady Talez, his first feature film in seven years (though he did appear briefly in Judd Apatow's Funny People earlier this year). The project, with a style described as "The Twilight Zone meets Creepshow," is a new 3D anthology horror film. Marvel will be publishing a four-issue comic book series based on Shady Talez in 2010 as well. Mathers will produce and star in multiple roles in the film, which will give an "urban wink" to genre classics such as Christine, Aliens, and The Lost Boys. The film is being produced by the newly formed D.J. Classicz/Davis Entertainment. According to Screen Daily, where this news comes from, the script for Shady Talez is being co-written by Dallas Jackson (who is also writing The Last Dragon remake for Sony) and Kevin Grevioux (creator of the Underworld franchise). Eminem's Follow-Up To '8 Mile' Is 3-D Horror Anthology 'Shady Talez'

6 November 2009 3:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

In 2002, hip hop star Eminem impressed a helluva lot of people with his work in the sort-of-biographical drama, "8 Mile." He's been relatively quiet on the Hollywood front since then, other than a few publicity stunts. All that is about to change however, as Eminem is preparing to return to the silver screen.

Next up for Slim Shady is "Shady Talez," a 3-D horror anthology described as "'Twilight Zone' meets 'Creepshow'" by ScreenDaily, which broke the news. The project is a collaboration between "I, Robot" producer John Davis and writer/producer Dallas Jackson, under the D.J. Classicz/Davis Entertainment label. Jackson will co-write the story with "Underworld" creator Kevin Grevioux; the duo will also produce a four-issue comic book miniseries based on the movie under the Marvel Icons label, for a 2010 release.

ScreenDaily doesn't have many more details on "Shady Talez" to share beyond that. D.J. Classicz »

Eminem to Show off Mad Thespian Skillz in 3D Shady Talez

6 November 2009 9:25 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Wait, didn’t Snoop Dogg already did something similar? Anyways, not content to wow the world with his amazing ability to recite lines about the crack whoreness of his mom and prone-to-bitchiness wife, rapper Eminem will return to the big screen in the 3D film “Shady Talez”. That’s pronounced “Shady Tales“, you see, the “z” in place of the “s” is just to make it look cooler. Because Eminem knows from coolness. So moving on. The film will be Eminem’s first in over seven years, since his debut in 2002’s “8 Miles”, a movie where Eminem played a white trash kid from Detroit who dreams of becoming a big rapper, but no one gave him a chance, and still our white trash kid kept plugging until respect was given. Word! It was a stretch, we know, but that’s just how talented Slim Shady is. The 3D “Shady Talez »

Last month, we reported on Shady Talez , a new horror anthology being produced by Dallas Jackson, John Davis and rapper Eminem. In our initial post , we knew that Kevin Grevioux, the co-creator of the Underworld franchise would be scripting the pic. According to Screen Daily, Eminem will be making his first on-screen performance since 2002's 8 Mile and that the flick, described as The Twilight Zone meets Creepshow will be in 3D. Also of interest, Shady Talez is also being turned into a four-issue comic book series due out in 2010 under the Marvel Icons imprint that Jackson and Grevioux are writing together. 'Sin City' Producer Bringing 'Almighty' To The Big Screen

5 November 2009 6:58 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Ed Laroche’s graphic novel “Almighty” has been optioned by “Sin City” producer Stephen L'Heureux’s Solipsist Films.

According to Mania, “Black Hawk Down” screenwriter Ken Nolan is also attached to adapt the script and “Almighty” is already being shown to potential directors.

Created, written and drawn by Laroche, “Almighty” takes place in 2098 and follows Fale, a female mercenary who is hired to rescue a girl from kidnappers and bring her home safely across the dangerous terrain of a "third world America" that has descended into neo-tribalism.

According to Laroche, Fale is a departure from the standard female action hero—embodied in recent years by Kate Beckinsale’s Selene from the “Underworld” film series and numerous Milla Jovovich movies like “Resident Evil” and “Ultraviolet.”

MTV: Chris Weitz Talks Michael Sheen And The Wolf Pack

MTV has a couple of new articles featuring interviews with Chris Weitz. In one Chris talks about Michael Sheen and his whether he is truly a vampire or a werewolf since he has played both now. The second article features Chris thoughts on the wolf pack and how they have evolved from that first Jacob wolf we saw in the very first New Moon trailer. 'New Moon' Director Chris Weitz: Is Michael Sheen Team Vampire Or Team Werewolf?

29 October 2009 8:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From Hollywood Crush: We were all stunned when we got a chance to see Michael Sheen (finally!) in character as Aro. The new "New Moon" TV spot featuring the Volturi gave us a chance to see the bad vamps in action.

But Michael is one of the few actors around (the only one I can think of offhand) who has had the opportunity to play both a vampire and a werewolf. Anyone looking to see a darker modern take on vampire mythology should check out the "Underworld" series, in which Michael plays the werewolf, Lucian.

When we got a chance to talk with "New Moon" director Chris Weitz, we asked him what side Michael would fall on in the battle between the supernatural creatures: vampire or werewolf?

Eminem Sampling Another Shady Tail ... I Mean Shady Talez

27 October 2009 5:40 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Rapper Eminem had pulled his nose out of Bruno's tail long enough to stick it right back into a new horror/hip-hop anthology film, Shady Talez!

Em will be joined by producers Dallas Jackson and John Davis in development of the anthology project.

"Shady Talez is a fictional horror comic book that literally sucks its reader into its very pages. Each horror story is a wink at an original classic such as Christine, Aliens, and The Lost Boys while Eminem puts his own dark spin on the genre, playing multiple characters and introducing new stories to the new horror generation."

Kevin Grevioux, the co-creator of the Underworld franchise and co-star of the first and third entries, is serving as writer. Shady Talez is due sometime in 2011.

Tuesday Top Ten: Bite Me!

27 October 2009 11:00 AM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

It's Halloween Week! Though a horror movie wuss I be there's one movie monster who I'll always give it up for, the vampire. Herewith: the film & television vampires who I would find most difficult to resist. (I've restricted myself to the past 30 years because there are too many I haven't seen from earlier... like those Hammer Horror films Matt was just talking 'bout). Should these 10 suckers ever come knocking, I shan't be wearing a cross, turtleneck or smelling of garlic.

I've already discussed Seline in Underworld and that hot Mexican in From Dusk til Dawn so I'm skipping them here.

10 Dracula (Gerard Butler) in Dracula 2000 (2000)

There are abundant lists of "best/sexiest vamps" on the net, but most of them go off in directions I can't support [cough Twilight... must everything be about page views? They twinkle. In the sun. Ugh]. But The Daily Beast makes a good point in favor of Gerard Butler: Ceiling Sex.

50 Influential Scream Queens: Part 1

27 October 2009 5:54 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Given man's unwavering fascination with woman, it's no surprise that the female star acts as the anchor to a dominant portion of horror pictures. I mean really, who wants to see a bare chested man tearin ass through the woods screaming at the top of his lungs while a bladed assailant nips at his heels? I don't - I know that much, although I'm certain there are plenty of men who would disagree (and that's okay with me, to each his own!). The simple fact remains however, women bring a unique appeal and certain sensual atmosphere to film that no man ever could. And it's not all about gratuitous T&A.

There's a comforting quality in the hands of the heroine; a fascinating maternal strength that, as a man I cannot genuinely relate to. I can however admire, and in many cases it's nearly impossible to not admire the lone »

Next month's "New Moon" release features a number of changes from its sequel's debut this time last year. There's new director Chris Weitz; a new cast of characters, including bad vampires and a wolf pack; and Taylor's Lautner's 30 pounds of muscle.

But one of the most exciting changes from last year's "Twilight" is purely visual in nature: shooting the third act of the film on location in Italy.

"Wow, am I glad we were able to shoot there," Weitz said with a laugh in a recent phone interview with MTV News. "We went to about 12 different hilltop towns in Tuscany, which was both delightful and exhausting, because it had to be done relatively quickly. »

In second place was Christopher Lee for his portrayal of Count Dracula, while Wesley Snipes was third with Blade, followed by Tom Cruise for his role in Interview With A Vampire.

Daily Wtf: Twilight’s Edward Cullen named the most popular vampire in movies

26 October 2009 1:03 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Either it’s a sign of the end times or a sign of Twilight’s undying popularity (pun intended) but Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen has been named moviedom’s favorite vampire.

In a survey conducted by ad agency Pearl & Dean, Twilight’s Cullen received 38% of the vote from more than 3,000 movie-going fans. Behind Cullen is Christopher Lee’s classic Dracula and Wesley SnipesBlade. Fruity fanged one Lestat, played by Tom Cruise in Interview With the Vampire, was No.4.

Kate Beckinsale’s Selene from the first two Underworld films napped top prize for a female with Salma Hayek’s snake-charming and hip-shaking Santanico Pandermonium (From Dusk Till Dawn) taking second amongst women.

“People love to be scared witless, particularly at this time of year,” said Pearl & Dean CEO Kathryn Jacob. “Edward Cullen being voted firm favorite movie vampire is testament to the fact that people still enjoy a good bloodsucker. »

Fight! Fight! Volturi vs. Edward in 'New Moon' Clip

24 October 2009 11:45 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Here's part of the big Volturi fight The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Edward (Robert Pattinson) travels to Italy, but his foolish pride looks like it gets the best of him. The Volturi are like the mafia of of the vampire world - and now that I think about it, a vampire mafia movie would be bad-ass - and naturally, you don't want to cross them. Even if you're dreamy.

Before this movie was rushed into production, Summit made what I think is a fantastic hire, bringing Michael Sheen into the mix as Aro. He has experience with the vampire world of course, serving triple duty in the Underworld flicks, and this is his first major movie after he became a real force, following his great work in movies like The Queen and Frost/Nixon. Consequently, you'll see Sheen in this film, Alice in Wonderland, and Tron: Legacy in the next 14 months. »

Billy Ray Signs On For Gears of War

On Thursday, Variety shared the news that screenwriter Billy Ray (State of Play) was set to take on the real life story of Captain Richard Phillips, the man who was held captive by Somali pirates for five days earlier this year. As interesting as it would be to see Captain Phillips’ dramatic escape brought to the big screen, there was a line at the bottom of the Variety article that was far more interesting: “He [Ray] is currently writing “Gears of War” for New Line.”

Wait? Gears of War? Last time we heard, that movie was being written by the team of Len Wiseman (Underworld) and Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast and Furious), with Wiseman as director. What happened? 'Astro Boy' And Comics: Tracking The Cast's Comic Book Connections

"Astro Boy," based on the long-standing manga and anime series of the same name, rockets into theaters this weekend with an impressive voice cast that includes Freddie Highmore, Kristen Bell and Nicolas Cage.

Kristen Bell: Already a fan-favorite within the geek community for her starring roles in "Veronica Mars" and "Fanboys," Kristen Bell sealed the deal even further with her multi-episode arc on "Heroes." Bell played Elle Bishop, the bratty supervillain with mastery over electricity.
