Timberlake, Aykroyd, Faris in Talks for "Yogi Bear"

6 November 2009 4:24 PM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

"Yogi Bear" is set to delight moviegoers and he wants to bring Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake along with him.

Warner Bros. is rebooting the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon with a full feature film. All the actors are in negotiations right now to star in the live-action/CG hybrid for director Eric Brevig ("Journey to the Center of the Earth).

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that, "Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake could end up lending his pipes for Yogi's constant companion, Boo Boo."

Joshua Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia wrote the original script and Brad Copeland did the rewrites and the current version of the screenplay. The studio is hoping to start production in New Zealand in December. »

Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake and Yogi Bear, Oh My!

Entertainment Weekly has uncovered the supposed casting for the upcoming live-action/hybrid adventure that will bring the lovable picnic basket thief Yogi Bear to the big screen. The Hanna-Barbera cartoon will be adapted into a 3D film by director Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth), with a screenplay from Wild Hogs scribe Brad Copeland. We now know who will voice Yogi, his trusty little friend Boo Boo and who will play a documentary filmmaker trying to get a glimpse of these two hungry bears. Dan Aykroyd will voice Yogi, with pop star turned actor Justin Timberlake taking his side as the voice of Boo-Boo. The lovely Anna Faris, seen most recently in the twisted Observe and Report, will play the film's documentarian, a girl named Rachel. The story will revolve around two animated bears -- one of whom wears a collar and tie, but no shirt -- who are the antagonists to one Park »

'Yogi Bear' Movie Adds Justin Timberlake, Dan Aykroyd And Anna Faris

6 November 2009 2:31 PM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

From Movies Blog: Remember kids, the truth is always far, far stranger than fiction. It was a little more than a year ago that we found out the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series "Yogi Bear" would be getting a big screen treatment. There was no casting announced or anything like that; just that the project was happening with "Surf's Up" director Ash Brannon at the helm and that it would feature a mix of live-action and CG animation.

Well today, the plot thickened. Variety reports that Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are all in negotiations to join the cast of the movie, which will now be directed by "Journey to the Center of the Earth" helmer Eric Brevig from a script by Brad Copeland ("Wild Hogs").

Faris, Aykroyd, and Timberlake in ‘Yogi Bear’

6 November 2009 12:55 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in negotiations for Warner Bros’ live-action/CGI hybrid feature Yogi Bear.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Faris will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.  Though her last movie was voice work for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Faris’ character will be a live-action performance.

Aykroyd will lend the voice of Yogi Bear, the picnic basket-stealing menace to Jellystone Park.  Timberlake will provide the vocals for Boo-Boo, his bow-tied sidekick.  Both bears are expected to remain pantless.  No word on which lucky actor gets to play the Park Ranger.  Is Jason Lee available for a paycheck?

WB is planning to shoot it in New Zealand next month with director Eric Bravig (Journey to the Center of the Earth).  I bet you can’t wait to hear the range Timberlake exhibits in this one.  Shrek the Third »

‘Yogi Bear’ Adds Aykroyd, Faris & Timberlake

6 November 2009 10:12 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Ever since a live-action, 3D Yogi Bear movie was announced back in February this year, there hasn’t really been any movement on the news front regarding it. However, fast forward to now and we may have our main cast in the form of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake.

Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the titular character in Yogi Bear, with Faris set to play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of Yogi in the fictional Jellystone Park. Timberlake is also in talks to join the project, possibly playing Yogi’s sidekick, Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center of the Earth), and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield (aim high, why don’t you?).

Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake Join Yogi Bear

6 November 2009 7:45 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Live action/CG family comedies for everyone! That's right, yet another hybrid animated film is moving forward this week, with the announcement of some pretty big names entering discussions for the Warner Brothers adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear. It looks like the studio has found voices for both Yogi and Boo-Boo, plus an actress for their first live action role. According to Variety [1], Dan Aykroyd is currently in talks to headline the film as the mischievous bear Yogi, while musician turned actor Justin Timberlake will play his faithful sidekick Boo-Boo. Anna Faris will play a documentary filmmaker who comes to Jellystone Park. Aykroyd in particular seems like a solid choice, although I'm wondering whether or not Timberlake will try to put on a cartoony voice or just be himself (he previously voiced a character in Shrek the Third). The Yogi Bear script was written by the same »

Yogi Bear movie attracts three actors like bears to sandwiches

6 November 2009 7:02 AM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

The Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris are in contract discussions to headline the live-action/CG animated Yogi Bear movie for Warner Bros.  If this is the first that you're hearing of a Yogi Bear movie, I'm sorry. These things happen.

Aykroyd would provide the voice for Yogi, who would be one of the film's CG creations. Timberlake would offer up the pipes for Boo Boo, which is pretty decent casting I suppose. Faris, best known for her roles as Cindy Campbell in four Scary Movie films, gets to play a real person in the movie, a documentary filmmaker.

Journey to the Center of the Earth's Eric Brevig will director from a screenplay by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). Donald De Line (Green Lantern) and Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight) are producing and filming gets underway in December somewhere in New Zealand. They must have better looking trees than we do. »

Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris Join Yogi Bear

5 November 2009 7:10 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

EW.com just got a big casting scoop on the unnecessary adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear, in addition to revealing a writer and a new director contrary to what we heard when the project was announced over a year ago. Eric Brevig (of Journey to the Center of the Earth previously) is directing a script from Brad Copeland ("Arrested Development", Wild Hogs) with Dan Aykroyd voicing the picnic basket stealing bear and Justin Timberlake taking on the role of Boo-Boo. Meanwhile, Anna Faris (seen in Observe and Report) will play a nature documentarian following Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. While there's not much mentioned in the vein of conflict or plot for this film, I'm left wondering how and if Ranger Smith will fit into this story. The frustrated character was such a huge part of the original cartoon that I can't imagine them leaving him out. »

Timberlake, Aykroyd and Faris Set to Voice 'Yogi Bear'

5 November 2009 7:10 PM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

For some reason I get these crazy thoughts in my head that some of these needless movies will just get announced in the trades and will ultimately be forgotten. Sometimes that's the case and other times... well, not so much, and not so much is the case today as Entertainment Weekly reports the animated feature film Yogi Bear is moving forward at Warner Bros. with Journey to the Center of the Earth helmer, Eric Brevig, directing. The big news today, however, is the folks that will be voicing the picnic-basket loving bear and his cohorts.

It seems Dan Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the CG-animated Yogi while Justin Timberlake is in talks to voice Boo-Boo while Anna Faris will voice Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.

The film is set to begin filming in Auckland, New Zealand next month from a script »

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake Head to Jellystone Park for Yogi Bear

5 November 2009 6:16 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I’m usually the snarky one, but the following statement is all Entertainment Weekly: “A remake of ‘Yogi Bear’ seems to be an incredibly unnecessary project but with these inspired casting choices perhaps a good movie will prevail.” I couldn’t agree more except for the part about inspired casting choices because I never spent time thinking, “Gosh, who would be good in a movie I don’t think should exist.”  But it looks like Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake will take a trip to Jellystone Park to tell the tale of a bear wearing a hat and a bowtie who steals pick-a-nik baskets.  Hit the jump for details.

EW reports that Anna Faris will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.  I imagine the focus of her documentary is how and why are a large bear and a small bear able to talk, »

'Red Dawn' Remake Will Blow Up 'All Of Downtown Detroit,' Star Josh Hutcherson Says

4 November 2009 2:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Some people remember “Red Dawn” as an Eighties classic powered by Cold War paranoia. Others think back to recent events and recall that it was one of the greatest films in the career of recently-deceased Patrick Swayze. Still others may remember it as the first movie to ever be released with a PG-13 rating.

The truth is, it’s all of the above. And now, it’s also a remake.

“I’m working on ‘Red Dawn’ right now, up in Michigan,” explained “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant” star Josh Hutcherson when we caught up with him recently. “It’s going great. We blew up all of downtown Detroit last week. It was pretty epic.”

Co-starring such up-and-comers as Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck and Chris “Soon to be Thor” Hemsworth, the flick could do for those actors what the 1984 original did for the likes of Swayze, Jennifer Grey, »

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

Directed by: Paul Weitz

Cast: Chris Massoglia, John C. Reilly, Josh Hutcherson, Michael Cerveris, Ken Watanabe, Salma Hayek

Running Time: 1 hr 48 mins

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: October 23, 2009

Plot: A teenager (Massoglia) stumbles upon a freak show and meets a wide variety of unusual characters. He must decide if he wants to change his normal life and become a vampire’s assistant for Crepsley (Reilly) in order to save a friend.

Who’S It For? Need your vampire fix before The Twilight Saga: New Moon? This should do the trick. Heck, if you check out the movie posters, they even try to get Massoglia looking a little like Robert Pattinson.

Expectations: Reilly is great. I’ll happily sit through anything the man attempts. One of my favorite moments was getting to see him perform at a small Chicago bar while he was in character as Dewey Cocks. »

Pixar aims high but stays grounded with its new film Up

15 October 2009 7:02 AM, PDT | t5m.com | See recent t5m.com news »

Having led the way for so long in the field of advancing animation, Pixar have been lagging behind somewhat in the technical race. The new wave of 3D had already become an often seen feature of animations in particular as well as live action films like Journey to the Centre of The Earth 3D before Pixar announced that Up would require its viewers to don Eric Morcambe style glasses to watch it in cinemas. Though their Disney half did venture into the territory with Bolt, an early runner of the technique. Up is, in a way, the least typical Pixar film. There's no other world as such, no completely imagined environment like those of Monsters Inc., The Incredibles or Wall-e. Though the vastness of the skies is used to impressive effect, really putting the 3D glasses to good use. The main characters are simply a very normal, grumpy old man »
