Jeremy Piven Goes Knee-Deep in ‘Waska’

22 hours ago | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Jeremy Piven was the best thing since sliced bread about 4 or 5 years ago after the birth of Entourage, but with the reported decline in that show’s quality (this is hearsay — I’ve never seen an episode of it) and less exposure for the actor beyond a great role in Smokin’ Aces, I keep seeing more and more backlash against the guy.

I don’t really understand why this is — he’s charismatic as all get-out, just sullied by roles in The Goods and surely the upcoming adaptation of Marmaduke. One thing that could very well help is a lower budget, character-driven picture, which is precisely what he’s signing up for with Waska.

Directed by Gaby Dellal (On a Clear Day), Waska is an indie drama in the works that will focus on “a young father who loses his son, throwing the community into disarray at the time of »

New York — The Clipse's new LP, Til the Casket Drops, is finally coming out next week, and all the brother-duo can do is smile.

"I was just vibing out to it," Malice said of the album recently. "I don't [usually] listen to [the album]: I do it, I lay it down, I wait for it to get ready, then I go back and absorb it. I feel sorry for a lot of cats. We got that album right now."

Malice said it was "unfair" to ask him what his favorite song from the LP, was but he did list a few he was partial to; "I like 'Champion,' '[Popular Demand] (Popeye's)' 'Showing Out,' and 'Door Man' is incredible."

The Clipse recently released the video for "Door Man," which they shot in Virginia. »

2nd Joel Silver Interview Ninja Assassin. Plus Info on Dark Castle Projects, Remakes, Sherlock Holmes, More

24 November 2009 8:49 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

At last weekend’s press junket for Ninja Assassin, I had the opportunity to speak with producer Joel Silver twice.  The first time was an exclusive TV interview, and the second time was during a roundtable interview the following day.  While I normally would be happy to use just one of the interviews, since Joel Silver is producing so many high profile projects (Lobo, Sgt. Rock, The Apparition), I knew getting to speak with him twice would be a good thing.

Also, what a lot of people don’t realize is how much info a producer can tell you.  While it’s always great to talk with an actor, unless you’re a Brad Pitt, most actors don’t have that much juice to get a project made.  So that’s why getting to speak with Joel Silver is so great, because not only can he talk about all his projects that are getting made, »

Exclusive: Producer Talks 30 Days of Night: Dark Days From the Set

23 November 2009 11:59 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Dread Central hit the set of Sony’s 30 Days of Night: Dark Days earlier this month - the film wraps principal photography today in Vancouver, Canada, under the watchful eye of co-scripter (with Steve Niles) and director Ben Ketai - and while there sat down with producer Jr Young (among others) to discuss the flick (cast interviews to come).

“This is a very edgy film,” Young, who previously produced The Messengers, told Dread while intently watching a scene being played out in video village – a scene which featured a rather hysterical and bloody actress (Katherine Isabelle) pleading for her life. “Ben knows this world. I think it comes natural to him.”

Starring Kiele (A Perfect Getaway) Sanchez, Mia (De Palma’s The Black Dahlia) Kirschner, Rhys ("Entourage") Coiro, Diora (Night of the Demons) Baird, Harold ("Lost") Perrineau, Troy (A Marine Story) Ruptash, Jackson Berlin, John De Santis, Marco Sorian, Monique (Cabin in the Woods) Ganderton, »

Phelps Hit With Tax Bill

Olympic swimming star Michael Phelps has landed in a new scandal - the athlete faces a $23,289 (£14,556) unpaid tax bill.

The gold medallist, who cameoed in U.S. TV show Entourage last year, owes the money to the State of California for tax returns from 2005 and 2006, according to TMZ.com.

It follows a string of scandals for Phelps; he was placed on probation for 18 months after his 2004 arrest for DUI; in February a photo was leaked to the British press showing him smoking a marijuana pipe and in August he was fined for carrying an invalid driving license after a car accident. »

Sexist, Racist Comments on 'Entourage' Set?

22 November 2009 1:16 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Entourage viewers are used to seeing Lloyd (Rex Lee) take a beating from Ari (Jeremy Piven), and they even take pleasure in the remarks, mostly involving Zac Efron's balls, Michelle Kwan in drag, or something along that line. TMZ is reporting that, unfortunately, the verbal tirades seem to also happen off-screen.

Lee, 40, admits that there are "occasionally" jokes thrown around set in reference to his sexuality and ethnicity on Entourage. "I try not to let it bother me," he said, adding that the remarks come mostly from members of the crew. Asked why he doesn't have these people fired, he just said, "that's not the way I work."

Entourage creator Doug Ellin has vowed to put an end to homophobic and racial slurs made behind the scenes of the hit TV show after actor Rex Lee complained about bullying on set.

The gay Asian star, who plays Lloyd on the programme, admitted he was "occasionally" targeted by crewmembers for his lifestyle.

Lee told TMZ.com he had been subjected to "insensitive gay jokes", but added, "I try not to let it bother me."

He says, "(I) will be speaking to everybody before we start filming again in March. It's not something condoned or acceptable." »

Entourage Creator Doug Ellin: 'Homophobic and Racist Jokes Completely Unacceptable Unless We Write Them Into Script'

20 November 2009 4:00 PM, PST | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

Well, this is upsetting. Actor Rex Lee -- who plays Lloyd, Ari Gold's long-suffering assistant on the sufferingly long-running HBO series Entourage -- has revealed to TMZ that he has been the target of workplace harassment from certain members of the crew, who regularly crack jokes about his race and sexual orientation. To the rescue, then, comes series creator and showrunner Doug Ellin, who enforces a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to jokes about gays and minorities on his set. Told of the cracks, Ellin said he was "shocked and horrified," and "will be speaking to everybody before we start filming again in March. It's not something condoned or acceptable."

So to be clear, if any crew member should say anything along these lines on the set on Entourage, they will be immediately fired: »

'New Moon' Reactions, Oprah And Birthdays For Larry King And P. Diddy In Today's Twitter-Wood

Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.

Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Check that out after the jump along with Jeremy Piven's Calgary Flames trip and Danny DeVito's wholesome moment with Carrie Fisher. Adventures Of Power Review

Writer/director Ari Gold also stars as the title character Power in this underdog/rock n' roll/road comedy. The story is as simple as it's protagonist: Power is a full-on loser, who works at the local energy plant with his gruff union leader dad Harlan (Michael McKean) and lives in a tent on the front lawn of his eccentric hippy aunt  Joni (Jane Lynch) while persuing his dream of being a respected "air drummer". You see, Power never got to have a real drum set growing up, so he has done the next best thing, he's learned to mimic his heroes in the empty space in front of his face.

After a mishap at work, when Power accidentally pulls a lever and covers one of the big bosses in raw oil while getting his groove on, he is given his walking papers. This happens right before his dear old »

Seinfeld Writer to Develop Fanboy Sitcom for NBC

16 November 2009 12:12 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

How fanboys made it this far without being the central focus of a major sitcom is the real question.  Larry Charles, who most of us probably remember as one of the first names to show up in the credits after Seinfeld episodes (he was a staff writer and friend of Larry David’s) will be tackling what are sure to be issues involving broken glasses, homemade costumes and utter bewilderment regarding women in an untitled sitcom for NBC.

Variety tells us that the storyline will follow some small-town fanboys who react to the cancellation of their favorite sci-fi show by endeavoring to produce episodes of their own. Think Be Kind, Rewind minus Mos Def, plus sight gags involving grown men walking on screen wearing poorly made spacesuits – although I’m hoping for more.

DJ Am Sneaker Auction To Benefit Charities

13 November 2009 10:07 AM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

DJ Am (born Adam Goldstein) was renowned as a wizard behind the decks, but those who knew him well also were aware that the late celebrity DJ was also a major sneaker head.

Now, an online auction of more than 800 of Am's beloved kicks will benefit a few of his favorite organizations that aid with substance addiction and recovery. The eBay auction kicks off at 4:30 on Sunday and lasts through December 14, with the DJ Am Memorial Fund pledging to distribute 100 percent of the proceeds to charity.

Am, who died in August of an accidental drug overdose just as he was wrapping work on the MTV recovery program "Gone Too Far," was an inveterate shoe hound, amassing an impressive collection of Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Converse and Bape sneakers over more than a decade.

The Las Vegas Sun reported that the collection for sale includes both worn and unworn items from the collection, »
