Jamie-Lynn Sigler Speaks on Ugly Betty Character

6 November 2009 8:42 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

On Ugly Betty, Jamie-Lynn Sigler plays a character very different than Meadow Soprano or, well, Jamie-Lynn Sigler (the Entourage version, that is).

Earlier this season, viewers were introduced to Sigler's Natalie, who met Daniel Meade at a bereavement group and wound up working at Mode.

In an interview with TV Guide, excerpts of which are below, the actress dishes on Natalie's unique look and more. Check it out...

Is Natalie funny? She's not Marc, Amanda, Wilhelmina... or Betty even. They all have real caricatured hilarity and they play it perfectly to a T. For me, Natalie is a bit more understated. I think the stuff that happens later might be considered funny.

Does she like Natalie's look? I'm not one of those people who has to look pretty. Let's make a really fun character. So I tried on about 30 wigs. I've never been involved in network television, so I wasn't »

The World Series, Hideki Matsui and Mariah Carey In Today's Twitter-Wood

5 November 2009 3:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Yankees supporters were out in force last night, and a few Twitter-Wood citizens were right by the field uploading pics. Brody Stevens may have shot the most enviable of the day, apparently getting soon-to-be-mvp Hideki Matsui in the dugout before the game. Jeremy Piven caught another high-quality photo-op, though, standing with his fellow Chicagoan Brian Urlacher.

Poor John Favreau was stuck in the editing room for "Iron Man 2," though, which he noted on his account. Larry King, Eliza Dushku and other added their thoughts after Phillies finally went down. Check out all of their tweets, along with Brett Ratner's pic with Mariah Carey after wrapping her video and Andy Milonakis. They're all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 5, 2009.

Cow Films, 'V' On ABC And Sesame Street In Today's Twitter-Wood

4 November 2009 4:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Cow films appear to be the official successor to the unseen prequels tag that was trending on Twitter earlier this week. Both Jon Favreau and Steve Agee made contributions today, while John August offered some criticism of ABC's new "V" series and Brian Lynch commemorated the 40th birthday of "Sesame Street."

In the "Twilight" neighborhood of Twitter-Wood, meanwhile, Peter Facinelli discussed an accidental oversleeping incident that resulted in a late arrival on-set. David Slade responded by thanking him for not ever being late during "Eclipse." Check out all of those tweets after the jump. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 4, 2009.

Interview: 50 Years of Filmmaking With Martin Landau

2 November 2009 2:30 PM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – The legendary Martin Landau was recently in Chicago with two films in special presentation at The 45th Annual Chicago International Film Festival - the classic “North by Northwest,” also releasing on Blu-Ray tomorrow, November 3rd, 2009, and the new drama “Lovely, Still,” co-starring Ellen Burstyn.

Very few actors will ever have an experience like Mr. Landau did at the film festival in October, bringing two experiences from such different eras of their working life. We spent a lot of time with Martin discussing what’s important to him as an actor and he made clear that it’s the arc of his character that’s essential to the projects he chooses.

Landau explains, “The interesting thing is that I’ve had an interesting cross-section of directors - Joe Mankiewicz, George Stevens, Henry Hathaway, George Marshall, Tim Burton, Francis Coppola, Woody Allen, Steve Spielberg. The good directors create a playground for »

Eric Roberts: The Hollywood Interview

(Eric Roberts in "Crash," above.)

Rediscovering Roberts

Eric Roberts never really left, but 2009 audiences are learning (or relearning) the charms of the actor Mickey Rourke has called the best he ever worked with.

By Terry Keefe

(This article is currently appearing in this month's Venice Magazine.)

Eric Roberts is the [expletive deleted] Man,” proclaimed Mickey Rourke at this past year’s Independent Spirit Awards, while accepting his trophy for Best Male Lead, at the very beginning of a speech which then saw him singling out Roberts, his one-time co-star in 1984’s The Pope of Greenwich Village, as someone who was worthy of a comeback like Rourke had with The Wrestler. From the audience, Roberts himself watched his friend at the podium with what looked to be a combination of embarrassment at being mentioned and some pleasure at the same, finally throwing it back at Rourke by shouting good-naturedly, “Accept your award!” For »

Adam Goldberg: Shooting To The Music

By

Alex Simon

Adam Goldberg first brought his unique brand of manic intensity to Richard Linklater’s ensemble classic Dazed and Confused in 1993 and has since been featured in such varied films as 2 Days in Paris, A Beautiful Mind, Saving Private Ryan, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Hebrew Hammer and I Love Your Work, which he also directed. An actor with a talent for mining the neuroses of his character for both comedic and dramatic effect, Goldberg also played recurring roles in “Friends” and “Entourage.” Goldberg's music CD, "LANDy, Eros And Omissions," hit shelves June 23 of this year from Nine Yards Records.

Goldberg’s latest film, (Untitled), is a satirical comedy that has him playing Adrian Jacobs, a brooding avant-garde composer who falls for the gorgeous owner (Marley Shelton) of a trendy New York art gallery. The quirky worlds »

Martin Landau Addresses Possible 'Mission: Impossible 4' Cameo

Producer J.J. Abrams has previously talked about how cool it would be if some of "Mission: Impossible" cast members make a cameo in the fourth feature installment, but star Martin Landau apparently shared no similar feeling. In an interview with MTV News, the Rollin Hand of the original TV series insisted that he has no interest to appear in "Mission: Impossible 4".

When asked whether he might take a participation in the in-development fourth film, the 81-year-old stated that he is not excited about making a mere cameo. "Unless it was a great part, which it probably isn't, it would probably be a cameo, a little joke, that wouldn't interest me at all," the Academy Award-winning actor shared.

TV Review: ‘The League’ on FX Has Potential to Be a Winner

29 October 2009 10:01 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – FX may have finally found a partner for the great “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” in the just-as-raunchy “The League,” a show that’s basically about how guys like to give each other sh*t. On message boards, over a few drinks, at a family picnic - there are groups of guys everywhere who live to bust each other’s balls. If you can’t handle it, don’t suit up for “The League”.

Television Rating: 3.5/5.0

The title of the sitcom is taken from a common obsession this time of year - fantasy football. A group of friends have an annual, highly competitive league that serves as the background for what is basically a relationship comedy between men and women. With raunchy humor that you’d expect to see on HBO or Showtime, “The League” sometimes feels like it’s trying too hard to be edgy, but by »

Renny Harlin Takes Val Kilmer and Emmanuelle Chriqui to Georgia

28 October 2009 8:21 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

We wrote a couple months ago about Renny Harlin's upcoming film about the 2008 conflict between Georgia and Russia. Now, as then, I'm interested in the film to see if Harlin can take what made a few of his films really entertaining (I'm thinking of Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea and The Long Kiss Goodnight) and apply it to something that isn't so flashy. Can he come up with a film that's actually good? It's been a while. Today he's got some of the cast lined up for the picture, which we now know will be called simply Georgia. Val Kilmer and Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui are the leads in the film, says THR. Kilmer is a journalist covering the conflict; Chriqui is a Georgian grad student who becomes 'entangled' with Kilmer and his cameraman. We'd previously known that the film is about "an American journalist and his cameraman who arrive »

Chriqui and Kilmer Join War Film

28 October 2009 6:36 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Here’s a recipe for … well, I’m not sure what dish this will make, but it’ll certainly be interesting: Emmanuelle Chriqui, a recurring actor on Entourage, and Val Kilmer (Tombstone) have joined forces with director Renny Harlin for the leading roles in Georgia, Harlin’s new war film.

According to THR, the film centers around “an American journalist (Kilmer) and his cameraman caught in the crossfire of  covering last year’s military conflict between Russia and Georgia … [as well as] a Georgia native (Chriqui) and doctoral student who becomes entangled with them.”

While this certainly doesn’t represent Harlin’s average action fare, I’m not entirely convinced that the man has ever made a good film in his life. When the closest you come to a good film is the lackluster Die Hard 2 or the redeemably cheesy Deep Blue Sea, you know your track record is somewhat worse for the wear. »

Emmanuelle Chriqui Heads To Georgia

28 October 2009 12:06 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

The dust may still be settling on Russia's conflict with Georgia, but Renny Harlin isn't messing about, with Georgia, his (anti)war movie set during the war, picking up another cast member in the shapely form of Emmanuelle Chriqui. Chriqui, best known as Eric's girlfriend Sloan in Entourage, will play a local woman who becomes entangled with an American journalist (Val Kilmer) and cameraman assigned to cover Georgia's 2008 assault on the Russian-backed Republic of South Ossetia. Andy Garcia will play Georgia president Mikheil Saakashvili. It's political sensitive terrain - the war left more than 100,000 homeless and left deep rifts between the two countries - so it will no doubt call on a different side to the Harlin oeuvre. As executive producer Michael Flannigan told Georgian television: "Our main concern was to show war as a bad thing. We had an opportunity to make a really anti-war film." In other words, »
