Prince Marsden
Most people know James Marsden as Cyclops from the "X-Men" movies. This is obviously his most high profile role, and it certainly brought him a lot of great opportunities. But the bummer about playing Cyclops is that the audience can’t see your eyes.
There is only so much you can do with a role in which the windows to the soul remain covered for the duration of the film.

Zach Galifianakis is popular. That was one well-timed Hangover.
According to Variety, Galifianakis and Amy Adams (Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day, Enchanted) are reportedly in talks to star in Town House.
The comedy drama is reportedly based on the Tish Cohen novel of the same name. It’s about an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son and lives off his rock star father’s royalties is running out of money. A call girl strikes up a friendship with the man. Doug Wright and Carney adapted the screenplay.
Galifianakis is currently costarring on the HBO show “Bored to Death.” He’s also in the George Clooney flick Up in the Air, which is getting Oscar buzz. He’ll also be in the upcoming It’s Kind of a Funny Story, Dinner for Schmucks and Due Date with Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.

Enchanted star Patrick Dempsey has sold a new sitcom idea about hairdressing to U.S. TV network bosses at ABC.
The actor created the show, tentatively called Coif, with his wife Jillian, who is a top stylist, and they've brought writers onboard to create the plot for a pilot.
He tells TV Guide magazine, "It's kind of like Cheers or Friends, but it takes place in a beauty school in Los Angeles."
And he has Warren Beatty to thank for perfecting the show: "We watched Shampoo a lot." »

Remember that awesome Disney Princes gallery? The one where the underexploited toon men were suddenly objectified? Here's what you might consider a subversive counterpart. Jeffrey Thomas has imagined Disney's heavily marketed Princesses -- not all of them actual royals but amply exploited by Disney all the same -- exploring their darkest sides.
It didn't take much twisting to make Belle fierce. She was always formidable, y'know. And then there's Alice (Don't judge! Who wouldn't go criminally insane in Wonderland?). Thomas' gallery, which Loyal K*N*G pointed me too, also includes Cinderella in a rotting pumpkin, Mulan looking fierce, Pocahontas on the hunt (clean that knife girl!) and Tarzan's Jane wearing a cheetah (no not "Cheetah" dear god, not that). See the whole thing.
By the way, if you loved that eroticized Prince gallery that I told you about early last year, you should know that artist David Kwaena has expanded the gallery. »

If any of you remember the part in Enchanted where the character Gisele (played by Amy Adams) sings ‘That’s How You Know’, there is one part where she appears on stage singing with a little girl in the middle of a Rapunzel play.
Yes, that was an easter egg of sorts for Disney’s next animated feature after The Princess and the Frog called Rapunzel. Making their way down the princess line, it was inevitable that Walt Disney Pictures would go to this classic fairy tale of sorts. While everyone is completely in awe over the possible rise back to Disney’s golden age with Princess & the Frog, and completely taken away by Pixar’s Toy Story 1-3 making its way into theaters between October to June of next year, Rapunzel is going almost completely unnoticed. Well that’s where I come in, showing off the concept art of »

Well the 2009 summer movie season is over for Hasbro and it has been financially successful. Transformers 2 has milked the entire world economy of over $800 million dollars, while G.I. Joe managed to drain the globe of $100 million this past weekend. So what does that mean for Hasbro their future releases?
Well Steve “Frosty” Weintraub over at Collider managed to catch Brian Goldner, President and C.E.O of Hasbro, before a special screening of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and got some interesting answers about a few upcoming projects: Stretch Armstrong, Candy Land, Battleship and Monopoly.
.
First up is Stretch Armstrong, the toy no one played with (seriously do you know anyone that owned one when you were a kid?). According to Goldner, Stretch will be the first movie released out of the lot, with a planned release of 2011. Now I know what you are thinking, »

Just like with famous chef Julia Child’s recipes, this film loves to smother itself up with butter, but just the right amount to make it tasty and satisfying.
If I made food like she did I'd squeal with delight too.
Now, I’m not saying that this film is in any way, shape or form edible, but once you see those delectable recipes that Julie Powell and Julia Child cook up on screen you’ll want to eat it up. Aside from that, the film has a purely balanced selection of comedy and drama as you teeter back and forth between Julie’s life in New York as she tries to finish up the recipes within the span of a year (and blogging it up) to Julia’s new life in Paris back in her prime as she finds a new passion in the kitchen. Despite the huge gap »

Recap – Ok first I’m going to clear up this whole Batman ordeal. Now, Oldman (and I assume Warner Bros.) announced that they were going to film next year to be ready for 2011. The lot of us had to get it up because let’s face it, we hadn’t heard much and this was a big announcement. Supposedly, Oldman said later that he wasn’t sure that they would. Bottom line, we were just doing our jobs in reporting and going by what we were told. If we made a mistake, then I’m sorry and will correct it but right now, this is what we’re going by.
Now, the WB killed this year. Everything they showed us really built the hype for these flicks. Even Book Of Eli had a trailer that presented a fun film of Denzel kicking ass, and The Box (regardless of Cameron Diaz’s spoiling) still looks fine. »

Who knew that two-time Academy Award nominated actress Amy Adams used to work at Hooters? And who knew the 34 year-old "Enchanted" star was "homely" in high school?Revealing all this and more (including a topless photo shoot) in the new issue of Allure Magazine, Adams says that as a teenager "I was homely, painfully small, short, with too much blue eye shadow because I thought, it matches my eyes, so why not? Trying desperately to fit in."(Uhm....is <a href="http://www.allure.com/magazine/20 ... »

Alexander Skarsgard may have lost the chance to wield Thor's hammer, but at least he'll get to terrorize the heck out of Cyclops and Lois Lane. According to Variety, Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth are set to costar with James Marsden in "Straw Dogs," Rod Lurie's controversial remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 classic thriller.
Peckinpah's original "Dogs" is the tale of a timid college professor named David (Dustin Hoffman) who relocates to his wife's native town of Cornwall. The distant intellectual immediately alienates the local workmen, who take a fancy to his wife Amy, who is herself feeling neglected by her husband. Tension builds between the couple, and between Amy and the workmen (one of whom is her ex-lover), eventually erupting into savage, horrific violence. "Dogs" was extremely controversial when it was released in 1971, and it remains a film of fierce debate.

Ok, tell me if I've got my nicknames right. McDreamy is the one who wooed Amy Adams in Enchanted, and McSteamy is the one who wants to woo someone else in Valentine's Day. Right? Eric Dane, the one who I'm assuming is McSteamy, is "circling" a role in the rom-com, according to Variety. Hilariously, he'll be going from playing a plastic surgeon to a quarterback, who's trying to figure out when to retire. What does that have to do with Valentine's Day? No idea. He'll be joining a pretty dazzling cast, all of them telling interconnected stories in Los Angeles on that day of chocolates and flowers. Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace and Hector Elizondo are all on board already. Romantic comedy veteran Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries), casting half the actresses he's »

Right now, as I type this Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is nearing one kagillion dollars at the worldwide box office, a total so large it has gone into made up numbers. At this point it’s fairly well documented that I wasn’t a fan of the sequel, so I won’t reiterate how there was no story and most of the critics got it right.
But Transformers got me thinking about how I used to take Soundwave in the tub with me and, while surrounded by bubbles, dive bomb the rubber ducky. Then, after I finished reminiscing about last weekend, I reflected further back to my childhood. Those were the good times before I had responsibilities and other things I procrastinate. However, now that 80’s adaptations are successful in theaters, Hollywood will milk that cash cow dry until we’re all sick of hearing about the toys we »

A lot of tiny stories have popped up, so it's time for another edition of "In Brief" - our occasional roundup of miscellaneous horror news from around the web.
We've got tiny little bites of rotten flesh for Dark Shadows, Paintball, Pandorum, Predators, Deadgirl, and more...
Is Johnny Depp about to Vamp it up in Dark Shadows soon? Collider says that the Public Enemies star Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter might be jumping into that one next. The poster and screening list for the upcoming Deadgirl has surfaced over at Bloody-Disgusting. The film is set for a September 15, DVD treatment from Dark Sky Films - and yes, that poster looks pretty vaginal. A new clip from the Filmax flick Paintball has shown up on the Spanish site Aullidos. The list of potential directors from the Robert Rodriguez (Sin City)-produced Predators has gotten longer. Enchanted director Kevin Lima is on board to direct a new version of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein. Frank has a helluva twist, though; the scientist cooking up cadavers is an "antisocial" young woman in med school who decides to "create" her own friends. And... it's a romantic comedy. Can you say undead boyfriend?!
According to Variety, the writer and one of the executive producers of this potentially awesome project is Karey Kirkpatrick, the writer of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Charlotte's Web, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and James and the Giant Peach, among others. She also directed the Eddie Murphy vehicle Imagine That,
Both Lima and Kirkpatrick have a bunch of projects that are in development, although Lima's have more of a family-friendly vibe (The Spook's Apprentice, Candy Land, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, and Thumb). Kirkpatrick's optioned projects include writing, directing, and producing Captain Abdul's Pirate School, »

I've got a big weakness for high-concept comedies, stuff like Freaky Friday and 17 Again and anything in which something talks that shouldn't. Apparently so does Kevin Lima-- the Enchanted director will go from turning a fairy princess into a real person to helping a teenager create a friend out of an instructional cadaver in. Yes, that is a dead body-- but I don't think this is going to be a dark Frankenstein kind of thing. Maybe next time. Instead Lima will be taking the story by Imagine That director Karey Kirkpatrick and making the romantic comedy Frank for Fox 2000. According to Variety, the main character is a geeky teenage med student who uses her science skills to build her own friend when she can't find one. Not only does this sound like exactly the kind of high concept I love, but it stars a girl doctor! Hopefully they'll snag »

Enchanted director Kevin Lima has agreed to receive a paycheck from Fox 2000 for services provided on Frank, the studio's new romantic comedy that takes liberties with Mary Shelley's creation. The project was developed by Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) but it won't be written by him.
The idea centers on a whizkid young medical student who's a loser in their social life. Taking some advice from her guidance counselor the prodigy creates her own Bff by assembling different pieces of the corpses stored in her school. Suddenly I understand why Kirkpatrick didn't want to write the screenplay for this one. He's still going to be cashing a check as an executive producer on it though so responsibility, thou art Karey Kirkpatrick's!
Radar Pictures is developing the project for the studio with Chris Chase and Ted Field producing. More responsible ones! Get them! »
