Director: Lee Su-yeon. Review: Adam Wing. A strange thing happened to me whilst watching The Uninvited, on three separate occasions I found myself falling asleep during the course of the movie. Not a unique occurrence I’m sure you’ll agree, it has after all been a very long week, but not the most positive of endorsements either. The interesting thing is, one of the lead characters in the film suffers from narcolepsy, coincidence or curse? You decide. The Uninvited is a 2003 Korean horror/drama directed by Lee Su-yeon, not to be confused with the 2009 Hollywood remake of A Tale Of Two Sisters, also entitled The Uninvited. This particular unwelcome guest stars Jeon Ji-hyun (My Sassy Girl) and Park Shin-yang (The Big Swindle), and tells the tale of an interior decorator that witnesses the death of two children on a subway journey home. »

X-men Origins: Wolverine

It’s quite unfortunate that the X-Men films having started strong are now reduced to this shoddy piece of cinema really. Let’s face it; it all started going downhill around number 3 but this attempt at a prequel just doesn’t deliver at all.

The script is all over the place, not knowing if it wants to be taken seriously or just be a no brainer action film. What we get is cheap dialogue being delivered like it’s Shakespeare. Hugh Jack man is charismatic enough but he hasn’t exactly had a good year, what with the complete bollocks that was Australia and now this.

I think Origins biggest failure is treating Wolverine’s relationship with his brother Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber) like some sort of Eastenders sub-plot. That’s what it is! The whole film feels like a daytime soap opera. The romantic element of »

Palisades Tartan reanimates A Tale of Two Sisters and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance UK Blu-ray Discs

Just a happy little update for this mornings Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance article. During the day, HMV also added the retailer exclusive Blu-ray Disc releases of Ji-woon Kim’s A Tale of Two Sisters and Chan-wook Park’s (Sympathy for) Lady Vengeance. Both films were first announced in 2008 and then pushed back to 2009 when Tartan went belly up. HMV lists November 2nd for Tale of Two Sisters but still the old 2008 release date for Lady Vengeance.

Elizabeth Banks is in final negotiations to star opposite Russell Crowe in The Next Three Days, an adaptation of the French thriller Pour elle that Paul Haggis (Crash) is directing for Lionsgate. Haggis also wrote the screenplay for the film, which will see Crowe play a teacher whose wife (Banks) is arrested and convicted of a murder she says she did not commit. He then comes up with a desperate plan to free her. Haggis says the film explores deeper themes of faith and belief. The original, written and directed last year by Fred Cavaye, starred Diane Kruger and Vincent Lindon. Haggis is also producing the remake with Michael Nozik through their Highway 61 Films. Elizabeth Banks Sentenced to Paul Haggis’ Next Three Days Remake

Paul Haggis has found his leading lady for his remake of the French thriller “Pour elle”, which is set to star Russell Crowe as a husband whose life is turned upside down when, one day, his wife is accused of a terrible crime and jailed. Elizabeth Banks (last seen terrorizing the young lasses of the horror movie “The Uninvited”, itself a remake) has joined Haggis’ film as the wife, according to Variety. Based on the 2008 French movie “Pour elle”, Haggis’ “The Next Three Days” will see Crowe playing a high school teacher who, after exhausting all legal means to free his wife from the criminal charges, hatches a plan to break her out instead. Banks will play the role originally assayed by Diane Kruger of “Inglourious Basterds” fame, which begs the question, why didn’t they just cast Kruger? Drag Me To Hell soundtrack hits stores

This Tuesday, August 18, Lakeshore Records releases the CD soundtrack to Sam Raimi’s terrific summer chiller Drag Me To Hell in stores and for on-line purchase, featuring his frequent collaborator Christopher Young’s full score. The disc contains 14 tracks comprising almost an hour of music from Raimi’s saga of a nasty gypsy curse.

Young is no stranger to the genre, having composing acclaimed music for films like Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II, The Fly II, The Dark Half, Tales From The Hood, Species, Urban Legend, Bless The Child, The Exorcism Of Emily Rose and, most recently, The Uninvited. 'Trivial Pursuits' cast adds three more

Christopher Gorham, Arielle Kebbel (pictured above) and Chris Parnell are the latest to join Christopher Farah's upcoming indie flick "Trivial Pursuits," which is currently shooting.

Written by Farah, the film follows a bunch of academics discovering a new side of life when they partake in a citywide trivia tournament.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film's cast also includes Kip Pardue, Evan Jones, Nelson Franklin and Kali Hawk.

Kebbel's recent credits include "The Uninvited" and "John Tucker Must Die." She'll also soon star in "Mardi Gras." Gorham is known for his role as Henry Grubstick on "Ugly Betty," while Parnell appeared on "30 Rock" and "SNL." »

Something about Carla Gugino is very foxy. I’m not sure if it’s the Old Hollywood aesthetics or her dressed as a superhero in Watchmen, but something is downright hot.

While we’re on the subject of Carla Gugnio, she has just been added to Zack Snyder’s (300, Watchmen) upcoming Warner Bros. drama Sucker Punch.

Centering on a girl (played by Emily Browning) who is placed into an insane asylum by her evil stepfather, the girl retreats into an alternate reality as she learns to cope with her new-found predicament.

Cugino will play a nurse who (what) becomes (for) a (it) a madam at a brothel in the girl’s alternate world.

The film also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone and Abbie Cornish.

Sucker Punch is targeting a March 2011 release and begins production this fall.

A couple years ago, Warner Bros. turned a few heads by saying, at least internally, that movies with female leads were off-limits. They don't sell, or that's the theory. So what does the studio do with Zack Snyder to follow-up Watchmen? They let him make a mostly female action movie set in the 1950s...with no major movie stars. Confused yet?

Sucker Punch just added another set of Xx chromosomes, with the sultry Carla Gugino joining Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, and Jamie Chung. The Hollywood Reporter says that Browning (The Uninvited) will play a teenage girl "confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. First Look at ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’- Updated!

With both historical fantasies and video game adaptations hot properties to snatch up in Hollywood, how could a new film starring Jake Gyllenhaal as an “adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world” Not be an amazing idea for a movie? Well, if this new picture tells us anything, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time may actually be a fun flick.

Entertainment Weekly had the pic up over the weekend (bigger size after the jump), which is the first of probably many to come. The film features only a few other names besides Gyllenhaal, which is surprising given the nature of the film, and the fact that it’s a Disney and Bruckheimer project. These include Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, and rising star Gemma Arterton (Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace).

Fanning or Browning to Lead the 'Bad Girls'?

Now that Dakota Fanning has officially entered her teenage years, she's opened herself up to a whole bucket full of roles in a number of different teen-centric films each year. As she continues to dabble in the vampiric for The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the rock 'n roll for The Runaways, her name has come up once again in relation to a just-announced film in The Hollywood Reporter called Bad Girls. Tobey Maguire Joins Elizabeth Banks In "The Details"

"Spider-Man" star Tobey Maguire is set to star in an indie black comedy with "The Uninvited" actress Elizabeth Banks. "The Details" is written and directed by Jacob Estes.

According to Variety, Maguire and Banks will play a married couple who are struggling with infidelity issues. Their lives are further complicated when raccoons burrowed under the sod in their backyard. A disagreement over how to dispatch the raccoons creates chain reaction of mishaps that includes murder.

Also starring are Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert, Anna Friel and Laura Linney.

James McAvoy was previously cast as the husband, but a scheduling conflict forced him to back out, making way for Maguire to step in.
