As in North America, the Michael Jackson doc/almost-concert movie opened well, but hardly as spectacularly as we were warned to expect. In fact, overall business was down 36 percent from the same weekend last year, when the James Bond flick Quantum of Solace opened to record-breaking box office (£15.4 million). This Is It did well for a documentary, but those kinds of qualifiers weren’t supposed to apply to this movie. I think we’ll see it take a sharp drop on both sides of the Atlantic this coming weekend. Up is down finally, but not much, and it’s edging close to a cumulative take of £30 million in its first four weeks, which would translate to about $300 million; but Up was “only” up to about $226 million at the end of its fourth weekend in North America. So it’s doing even better in the U.K. than it did in the U. »

Ghost Rider 2 is happening, for some reason, and while there.d been rumors that it might be a reboot (started by Nic Cage) it sounds like we.re in for a pretty traditional sequel. MTV caught up with Ghost Rider 2 screenwriter David Goyer who offered details on what.s up with the sequel.s the 9-year-old script, besides of course, watering it down to receive a PG-13 rating. Says Goyer, .It's not exactly a reboot. I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What Casino Royale was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to Ghost Rider.. Does that mean if there.s a Ghost Rider 3 it.ll be the flaming skull equivalent of Quantum of Solace? Let.s hope not. Once was enough. Even though they seem »

Walt Disney Pictures and Bruckheimer Films have released the new trailer for Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time adapting the best-selling Ubisoft video game Prince of Persia. Created in 1989 for the Apple II by creator Jordan Mechner, the Prince Of Persia video game developed a unique rotoscoping process to ensure authenticity of movement during animated sword-play. Following the game's release, Prince of Persia was ported to Amiga, Apple Macintosh, Dos, Nes, Game Boy, Game Gear, Snes, Sharp X68000, Atari St, Sam Coupe and Sega Mega Drive Genesis. In the original game, the 'Prince' is an orphan living in the streets of Persia, until one day he climbs the palace walls to peek at a young 'Princess', comparing her to a "moonrise in the heavens". Bond star Daniel Craig recently revealed that filming on the next James Bond movie will start at the end of 2010.
In the meantime, director Marc Forster has been spilling the beans on Craig's previous 007 adventure, Quantum of Solace.
Forster who has already said he doesn't want to do the next Bond flick, had his breakthrough with Monster's Ball, for which Halle Berry won a best actress Oscar.
His next film, Finding Neverland, was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy Awards.
The filmmaker, who had left Switzerland for the USA at the age of 20 to pursue his dream, continued his directorial success with films including Stranger than Fiction, The Kite Runner, and then last year's Quantum of Solace.
In an interview with MakingOf, Forster explains that the Bond flick was, for him, "a very different experience."
He had a budget five times the amount he normally worked with plus, »

If we are to believe the current James Bond, Daniel Craig, then the 23rd 007 film will start shooting late next year.
Craig gave that timeline answer to a fan asking him about production of the next Bond film while exiting the stage door for "A Steady Rain," the Broadway play he's starring with Hugh Jackman.
But MGM had no comment.
This is what we know -- Peter Morgan, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade are writing the script for the new Bond film. Purvis and Wade both worked on "Quantum of Solace" and "Casino Royale."
Morgan, is the brilliant scriptwriter behind "The Queen" and "Frost/Nixon."
There's no director attached to the film yet, so stay tuned... »

Few literary figures have endured changing eras and tastes likes Ian Fleming’s spy, James Bond. Fleming created the spy in the 1950s and continued his exploits through the dozen novels and nine short stories before his death in 1964. He got to see his creation catch the attention of a world made uncomfortable by the Cold War, giving them a clear cut hero to root for as he traveled the world and dispatched the Red Menace in all its guises.
Bond has endured despite the constant change in performer, indelibly begun by Sean Connery and carried through by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, »

According to MI6, Bond 23 will begin production in late 2010. Daniel Craig told fans outside the Broadway theatre for his play “A Steady Rain” that production will kick off at the “end of next year.
It will be the third 007 installment starring Craig. His previous two films, “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace,” earned $594 million and $586 million, respectively, at the worldwide box office.
The next installment in the James Bond franchise is being written by returning scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace), and “The Queen”, “The Last King of Scotland”, and “Frost/Nixon” scribe Peter Morgan. David Arnold will compose the score for his sixth 007 movie. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have yet to confirm a director.
That news follows the general schedule of Bond movie production which commences 10-12 months before release, indicating a November 2011 opening. »

I'm not surprised by the announcement, but a little surprised at the way we learned about it. Daniel Craig says Bond 23 will go into production in 2010. Again, we knew there was no way the film could be ready by November 2010, which would keep with the two-year gap pattern established with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. But we also knew there was no way this would wait four years. Three shall be the number and the number shall be three.
But the "official" word came from 007 outside the Schoenfeld theatre in New York, where Craig and Hugh Jackman are performing A Steady Rain. The actors take plenty of time signing autographs, which is always a good sign, and a woman asks Craig about the next Bond movie.
"We start at the end of next year," Craig says matter-of-factly in a video found by CommanderBond.net. Again, no surprise there, »

Yesterday, a snippet of info from James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, made its way online about the upcoming sequel to Quantum of Solace, referred to as simply Bond 23 for the time being. A Bond fansite called Commanderbond.net picked up on the info which came from when Craig was signing autographs after a performance of his stage play, A Steady Rain, with Hugh Jackman.
When I said a snippet of info, I meant exactly that. According to a quick comment Craig gave to a fan, Bond 23 will, “start at the end of the next year.” That’s it. He was really busy signing autographs to elaborate and the play he’d just done was probably at the forefront of his mind more than Bond was. Just in case you think he’s been misquoted, there’s an actual video on YouTube of it and we’ve included it »

So it would seem that Daniel Craig didn’t get the memo from MGM that details for Bond 23 were a secret! Variety have reported that when asked by a fan as he exited the stage door of his play ‘Steady Rain’ (currently playing with Hugh Jackman), on Broadway, he announced that 2010 is the year! I’ve embedded the video which Craig makes the revelation about 2 minutes in.
MGM have refused to comment on Craig’s answer which may imply that the news he broke wasn’t supposed to be shared with us minions! Currently, no director has been announced for the 23rd installment of the billion dollar franchise which may have to soon change if the 2010 news is true. Martin Campbell directed “Casino Royale” and Marc Forster directed “Solace,” but neither is expected to return to the franchise anytime soon. “Quantum of Solace” grossed $586 million worldwide and “Casino Royale” grossed $594 million. »

A fan of Daniel Craig recently approached the James Bond actor and got him to offer a time frame for when the next James Bond adventure is set to start shooting.
Per Variety, Craig answered the fan by stating the 23rd Bond adventure will begin shooting sometime late next year. That would put it on pace for a Fall or Winter 2011 release.
The last official news about the next Bond film came back in June when MGM hired Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen, The Last King of Scotland) and screenwriting collaborators Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale) to pen the script. A few days later, a rumor circulated that Michael Sheen of The Twilight Saga: New Moon was being considered for the film's main villain.
MGM remains mum on Craig's open statement and Sheen's possible involvement in the project. »

The end of 2010 could mark the beginning of production for the new James Bond movie, "Bond 23". Current 007 star Daniel Craig was the one who broke out the possible starting time. Commander Bond pointed out at a YouTube video where the actor is captured uttering, "We start end of next year," when signing autographs for fans after his Broadway play "A Steady Rain" on Thursday, October 22.
41-year-old Craig has portrayed the famous spy agent since 2006, making his debut in "Casino Royale" and reprising the role in 2008's "Quantum of Solace". He is currently taking on the Broadway stage alongside "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman for "A Steady Rain". His upcoming feature film will be "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn".
MGM and Eon Productions have announced earlier the recruitment of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan for "Bond 23". He will join the screenwriting team that »

Well, it may not have been the most in-depth update, but being the star of the film I think we can trust what Daniel Craig tells us.
Craig is currently starring in the Broadway production of A Steady Rain with fellow Hollywood star Hugh Jackman. After a recent performance, Craig was graciously signing autographs for fans waiting outside the stage door exit when he was asked the question we’re all curious about: When do we get to see 007 back in action?
In a brief yet direct response, Craig informed the fan that they’re going to begin filming James Bond 23 at the end of next year.
It’s not much to go on, but considering that MGM’s financial issues presented the possibility of bankruptcy, it’s reassuring to hear from Mr. Bond himself that the movie is still taking place.
