Oliver Queen and his father are lost at sea when their luxury yacht sinks, apparently in a storm. His father dies, but Oliver survives for five years on an uncharted island and eventually returns home. But he wasn't alone on the island where he learned not only how to fight and survive but also of his father's corruption and unscrupulous business dealings. He returns to civilization a changed man, determined to put things right. He disguises himself with the hood of one of his mysterious island mentors, arms himself with a bow and sets about hunting down the men and women who have corrupted his city. Written by

Did You Know?
For Green Arrow's first two plus decades, he was a relatively minor superhero character, without his own comic book series. In 1969, the character lost his millions and began co-starring in Green Lantern's series. He became more of an earthy people's hero, and was quite popular throughout the 1970's, both with Green Lantern, and as part of DC's Justice League of America. See more
In two second-season episodes, chest compressions to restart Oliver's and Roy's hearts were done incorrectly. They are pushing down on the person's actual chest, rather than two finger widths above the sternum. That would damage the ribs, lungs and other vitals. See more
