Storyline

The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone's user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression - except for Gene, an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become "normal" like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak. Together, they embark on an epic "app-venture" through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it's deleted forever. While most of the emojis in the film are part of the set standardized by Unicode, Toaster, Broom and Disco Ball were not as of mid-2017. The Fortune Cookie and Takeout Box emojis were officially added to the Unicode Standard in June 2017, a month before the movie came out, so they would not have been on phones during filming. A moving, intense, blockbuster that sets the bar high for other films
28 July 2017 | by See all my reviews

The Emoji Movie is a very powerful, moving film that showcased the capabilities of human emotion. It used groundbreaking technology to create stunning visual that would mesmerize viewers. This movie is suitable for all ages; whether you're 5 years old, or 50, you should go see this movie. It is inspiring and it showcases the spectrum of human nature and how humans use emojis to communicate with each other. You may have heard the saying a picture is worth a thousand words, but an emoji is worth a million. This movie revolutionized the film industry and set the bar high for other films. In the future historians will look back on this movie and regard it as the pinnacle of human achievement. It was a roller-coaster from start to finish, the nail-biting film will leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Viewers will find themselves absorbed by the heartwarming tale of a relentless, determined emoji who didn't let societies standards shape his/her/it's/wouldrathernotsay's life. I was shocked by how intense and gripping this movie was. The plot is rich, unpredictable and touching. Critics will find themselves's comparing this movie to some of the greats such as Saving Private Ryan and Fury. This isn't your typical war movie, this movie is a war with one's emotions. The Emoji Movie is a stirring masterpiece that only comes once in a millennium. This thrilling motion picture is a jaw-dropping performance that properly utilizes the medium. I rate this movie 1/1, and never watch it again as every time I get saddened by the the fact that there will never be a film to match this blockbuster
